Oatmeal can be more than just the simple porridge (salty or sweet) that we got used to in childhood and that we diversified a little in older age. Today I want to share some tried and tested oatmeal recipes that can be a great breakfast before a run or a snack on long distances!

Banana Pancakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 large or 2 small bananas;
  • 2 eggs;
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Cooking. Mash the banana with a fork, add the eggs, stir well and add the cinnamon and baking powder. The dough turns out like a very thin sour cream. Heat the pan well, grease with vegetable oil and bake pancakes over low heat.

The pancakes turn out to be quite ruddy, with a brown crust, but this does not mean at all that they are burnt. The banana just darkens. It is better to turn it over with a wooden spatula, holding the pancake with a fork on the other side. Prepare very quickly - literally one minute on each side! These ingredients are just enough for a small snack for one runner.

If you don't feel like fiddling with a fork, you can mix all the ingredients in a blender. The dough turns out to be more liquid and homogeneous.

Apple and oat pancakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup instant oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1 egg;
  • 2 tablespoons of honey;
  • 2 tablespoons baking butter.

Cooking. Mix all the ingredients in a blender, grind until smooth and bake over low heat until golden brown, after greasing the pan with butter.

The original recipe said "applesauce", but since I didn't quite understand what exactly was meant, I decided to make applesauce. To do this, I simply baked the apples in the oven by cutting out the cores and adding a little water to the baking sheet. If the apples are sour, you can add a little sugar or honey inside. As a result, the dough turns out to be quite thick. I think if you add baby applesauce from the store to it, it will turn out to be more liquid. Also, for a thinner dough, you can add a little water with apple juice, which is left after baking the apples.

From this amount of ingredients, one small portion of pancakes is obtained. But, since there is quite a lot of oatmeal, they turn out to be very satisfying. It goes well with bananas, honey or jam!

Oat waffles

And this is a recipe from almost Craig Alexander - oatmeal waffles! They were cooked in the kitchen by a man, so I can confidently say that cooking them is quite easy.

Ingredients:

  • 100 g oatmeal;
  • 2 eggs;
  • 2 egg whites;
  • 150 ml of kefir.

Cooking. In the video you will find not only detailed instructions for preparing this dish, but also learn interesting facts from the life of Craig Alexander - one of the most successful triathletes, multiple champion of Kona and other competitions in the IRONMAN series.

Enjoy your meal!
