9 major improvements in the new iOS 9

There is a revival in the Yabloko camp: the long-awaited iOS 9 has been released, available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models that support the eighth version of iOS. The life hacker has chosen nine main reasons why it is worth upgrading to the "nine".

1. Notes

The updated Notes application has acquired many useful features: checklists and to-do lists, adding photos, links, and even the ability to sketch with your finger. All changes in notes are instantly synchronized with your other devices via iCloud. The Share button in Safari, Maps, and other applications lets you add their content to your note as an attachment. All attachments can be viewed on a separate tab, which greatly simplifies their search.

2. Maps

IOS 9 introduces support for public transport routes (so far, unfortunately, a very small list of cities is supported). The new tab shows on the map the lines and stops of the metro, the routes of buses, trains, ferries. The routes you create are now even more accurate and, for example, can tell you which way to get off the metro.

3.iCloud Drive

The new iCloud Drive app built into iOS gives users access to files in iCloud from the home screen. The files are organized by name, date, and tags that you've added on the Mac. You can browse the contents, sort them, and find the files you want from the application in which you are working.

4. Mail

In the updated "Mail" you can add pictures, comments or signatures to attached photos and documents. Now you can attach files from iCloud Drive to emails and easily find the desired email by sender, recipient, subject, or a combination of several criteria.

5. Multitasking

In iOS 9, you can have two apps open at the same time on the screen. While surfing the web, reply to a message or perform another task, then swipe the second app off the screen and return to browsing the site.

Split View allows you to open two active windows at the same time. Draw a sketch while looking at the photo, or write a letter quoting a book opened in the reader.

Turn on Picture-in-Picture: Press the Home button while talking on FaceTime or watching a video, and the window will shrink and fall to the right corner of the screen. You will be able to open a second application, such as Mail, but the video will play. You can sort letters while watching your favorite TV show.

6. QuickType keyboard

To select, edit, move text in iOS 9, move the cursor by moving two fingers across the screen. With a couple of taps, apply bold, italic, underline, copy and paste. The keyboard shortcut bar is customizable for third-party applications. Hold down the Command, Option, or Control keys on the Wireless iPad Keyboard to use your customized keyboard shortcuts.

7. The battery lasts longer

Apple has tried to extend the battery life of its gadgets. Light and distance sensors detect when you put the device down, and the backlight won't turn on even if notifications arrive.

In Low Power mode, the gadget consumes even less power. Metal technology provided fast scrolling, smoother animations and improved overall performance through efficient use of the CPU and GPU.

8. Updates made easier

iOS 8 ate 4.58 GB of storage in your gadget. To install iOS 9, you will need 3.5 times less space - 1.3 GB. You can update your device while in use or while you sleep.

9. Increased security

iOS 9 protects your photos, documents and communications with more complex passwords. Hackers will not be able to gain unauthorized access to your Apple ID account. At the same time, you will not notice the difficulties when using new technologies.
