After extensive testing, starting in March 2018, the YouTube developers have finally launched a new feature - a mini-player for easy navigation around the site without interrupting the video.

Many users around the world have noticed that a new button has appeared in the YouTube player on the site, which is located in the settings panel between choosing the quality and decreasing / increasing the window size. By clicking on this button, the player with the video being played will zoom out and move to the lower right corner of the screen, and the user will be able to freely navigate the site without stopping playback.

Unfortunately, the developers did not provide for changing and moving the mini-player window. But the player continues to play if you switch to other tabs in the browser, which is great for conversational shows and music. According to users, the new feature works in all popular browsers: Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi, Firefox and even Microsoft Edge.
