The process of organizing a workspace almost always leads to even more discomfort. No matter how much I tried to do everything “right,” it ended in failure every time. All that I have more or less achieved is a second desktop for a couple of applications deployed in full screen. Apparently, the developers of TotalSpaces also struggled in attempts to find their own and prioritize working at the computer. And in my opinion, they turned out quite well.

At its core, TotalSpaces is a fancy switch between desktops on your system. The only exception is that you can arrange additional work areas not only horizontally, but also vertically, adding separate desktops under the existing ones.

Thus, it becomes much more convenient to scatter all your tasks on different desktops. For example, the first three are for work. One window has the Finder open with documents, the second has Safari full screen, and the third has a video of working materials. And three more, but already located at the bottom - for, so to speak, rest - not working applications.

Convenience is added by the fact that switching between these work areas occurs with the appropriate gesture on the trackpad: swipe right with four fingers - switched to the second desktop, swipe up - switched to the one at the bottom. The main thing is to check the corresponding box in the settings, since it is disabled by default.

There, in the settings, it is possible to bind certain applications to their desktops. For example, you can add a browser and specify a third desktop for it - so it will always open exclusively on it. In this way, you can conveniently separate your work applications from the rest.

As a bonus, my favorite: the animation for switching between desktops. In addition to the main one, similar to the standard one, TotalSpaces offers five more pieces. Oh, how long have I dreamed of this:)

Who will benefit from such an application? Of course, for those who know how and / or want to separate work from rest on one computer. And for those who have a laptop screen diagonal small enough to comfortably accommodate all open applications. Personally, I managed to cope with both the first and the second, which means that TotalSpaces will take its place in my installed applications.
