The social network Facebook decided to follow the lead of advertisers and show ads even to those users who include various ad blockers. The Adblock Plus community responded immediately.
Recently it became known that Facebook is trying to bypass ad blockers. Many social network users using Adblock Plus and other similar solutions, to their surprise, found ads that bypass filters. You can debate for a long time about the motives of this decision of Facebook, but one thing is clear for sure: the social network has decided to ignore the desire of users to get rid of advertisements of varying degrees of obsession.
Of course, advertising is one of the most serious sources of income for a social network. However, such a clear disregard for the wishes of users, as expected, did not find support. The Adblock Plus community, the world's most popular ad blocking solution, immediately began looking for a solution. And it was found.
To get rid of Facebook ads again, you need to update the main Adblock filter called Easy List. This can be done in the plugin settings for any of the supported browsers. You can also get back ad blocking on a social network by adding the following code to the list of filtered resources:
facebook.com ## DIV [id ^ = "substream_"]._5jmm [data-dedupekey] [data-cursor] [data-xt] [data-xt-vimpr = "1"] [data-ftr = "1"] [data-fte = "1"]
If both options do not suit you for one reason or another, then the filters will be updated automatically in the next 24 hours anyway. However, there is no guarantee that Facebook will not repeat this move to bypass the ad blocker again. Therefore, the game of cat and mouse is probably just beginning and will continue until one of the parties, including ordinary users, runs out of patience.
