Sentimental compositions are in the repertoire of many groups, but the following performers are most often in the collections of melancholic music.

The beatles

The Liverpool quartet gave the world dozens of perky hits, but their repertoire also includes melancholic compositions. It makes no sense to list everything, many of them are known to everyone.

If you are unfamiliar with the work of The Beatles, we advise you to fix it. It is better to study the group's repertoire with albums: consecutive listening clearly demonstrates changes in their work. And the 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is completely conceptual: the songs in it are united by a common musical, textual and narrative idea.

The cure

The Cure is mostly familiar to the Russian listener through Russian rock performers who were inspired by British music. In 2012, in an interview with Afisha, the luminaries of Soviet and Russian music admitted their love for The Cure and moderate plagiarism: Mumiy Troll, Alisa, Bi-2 and others.

The creativity of The Cure belongs to post-punk, gothic rock, new wave. Their most popular album is 1989's sad and melancholy Disintegration. Fans of darker and depressive music will love Pornography, released in 1982.

Sigur Rós

Stroke is considered to be one of the most minor styles of modern music. This genre, as a rule, corresponds to the absence of vocals and rock hooks, as well as the atmospheric sound of instruments.

Icelandic group Sigur Rós is one of the brightest and most atypical representatives of the post-rock. While the canonical post-rock music has outlived its usefulness rather quickly, the music of the Icelanders is not perceived as a relic of the past. Elements of Scandinavian folklore, bowed guitar playing, mesmerizing melodies and the high-pitched voice of Jonsi Birgisson have made the music of Sigur Rós unique and beloved by fans of melancholic music for the last 20 years.

Radiohead

Another British band, known to every lover of sadness to music. Cheerful tracks in Radiohead's repertoire are a rarity, so when you hear the sounds of rain outside the window, you can turn on the entire discography.

In terms of the level of anguish among popular groups, they have no equal, which was once again confirmed by analyst Charlie Thomson. He noticed that Spotify ranks tracks in terms of positivity, and in last place on this list is the composition True Love Waits from the last album of the British.

City and Color

City and Color is a solo project by Dallas Green, guitarist and vocalist of the Canadian post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. Green's side project was founded in 2004. During this time, the artist has released five full-length albums. They are all different: the vocals in Sometimes 2005 were almost entirely accompanied by a guitar.

Now City and Color is a band with a full rhythm section and a second guitar. Since 2005, the music itself has become noticeably heavier and more energetic. Despite the changes, all albums combine beautiful melodies and high-pitched vocals that have become Green's trademark.
