What does EAC mean

EAC is an abbreviation of the English Eurasian Conformity, which means Eurasian Conformity. These letters mark products that have passed the checks established by the technical regulations of the Customs Union and meet all the requirements for this type of goods. The main criterion by which products are evaluated is safety.

Marking is applied to goods produced in the territory of the Customs Union, which includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, and imported from abroad.

What products should have the EAC mark

The list of goods that must be certified in accordance with the requirements of the Customs Union is periodically expanded. It now includes:

  • tobacco products;
  • railway and motor transport;
  • furniture;
  • small boats;
  • food products;
  • corn;
  • elevators;
  • household appliances (kitchen appliances, irons, electric manicure appliances - everything that plugs into the outlet);
  • computers;
  • cables, wires, cords, extension cords;
  • fuels and lubricants;
  • petroleum products;
  • light industry products (fabric, clothing, footwear, home textiles, leather and fur products);
  • perfumery and cosmetic products;
  • products for children and adolescents;
  • toys;
  • personal protective equipment (gas masks and so on);
  • pyrotechnic products.

What are the requirements for a product to be EAC marked?

The requirements for each group of goods are spelled out in the corresponding regulations of the Customs Union. For example, toys are rated according to the following indicators:

  • safety for life;
  • materials from which the toy is made;
  • organoleptic properties;
  • physical and mechanical properties;
  • flammability;
  • Chemical properties;
  • toxicological and hygienic indicators;
  • electrical properties;
  • radiation safety;
  • microbiological indicators;
  • package.

Each group of products has its own safety criteria, which take into account the main risks.

What should be the EAC mark

The abbreviation EAC can be typed in Cyrillic or Latin. According to the regulations, the letters are located on a light or contrasting background and do not merge in color with the packaging. The sign must be square (with a side of at least 5 mm) and distinguishable during the entire life of the product.

The lack of marking on the product, on which it should be, signals the consumer about the danger: the product did not pass the required checks and can do harm. However, if you order something directly from overseas, the product may not be labeled, even if it is of excellent quality.
