Preparing for December 31st is a kind of national sport. Knives are knocking, cutting Olivier mountains, mobile phones are ringing, gathering friends, relatives and acquaintances for a party. In the midst of all this light New Year's madness, we want to remind you of the need to maintain common sense, a sober (if possible) mind and put into practice 10 simple but important rules for the correct New Year's Eve.
1. No Soviet champagne
Alcohol for the New Year is a separate sore subject. The number of alcohol poisoning this night jumps at times. And the point is not even that many celebrants are guided by the Russian proverb that "we know the measure, but really you can drink it." Low-quality alcohol, even in small quantities, can lead to the most dire consequences: from poisoning and severe hangover to death. If, for some unknown reason, you still buy modern counterparts of Soviet champagne and a variety of cheap ports - for heaven's sake, stop doing it. Better less alcohol, but high quality, if possible not domestic. Focus on good wines: The benefits of quality still wine are far greater than the New Year stereotypes imposed by old Soviet films and the tradition of celebrating our parents.
2. Warn your neighbors if you are planning a noisy party
New Year is the time when everyone goes to bed late and makes a lot of noise, there is nothing surprising here. And yet, if you live in an apartment building, it does not hurt to warn the neighbors above and below that many guests will come to you, that it will be noisy, loud music and fuss. Moreover, it is advisable to limit the party with noisy libations, for example, until two in the morning, and then move to a nightclub and continue the celebration there. This advice is especially relevant if you live in the neighborhood of the elderly, families with small children or people suffering from heart disease, migraines, seizures. Respect others and do not forget that due to an unforeseen turn in life, you yourself may well be in their place and someone's noise will really interfere and harm you. New Year New Year, but staying educated civilized people is not so difficult.
3. Know the measure in everything
This isn't just about drinking or having fun. Food and its quantity, the combination of dishes with each other and with alcohol (as well as with medications that you may be taking, and with chronic diseases that you may have), dancing and participating in competitions - all this must be approached wisely. … Heart, blood pressure, digestion, back, and joint problems that can arise suddenly in the midst of New Year's Eve are not least related to whether you are keeping to the measure.
4. Handle pyrotechnics with care
Burns, injuries to the hands, face and eyes are among the most common reasons for going to an ambulance from December 30 to January 2. Even if you bought a proven pyrotechnics and are sure that you know how to handle it, do not forget about basic safety rules. Do not stand 1-2 meters from fireworks and pyrotechnic installations, do not throw firecrackers and sparklers from the balcony down into the street. Remember that in a room full of flammable objects, there should not be any pyrotechnics at all.
5. If you have small children, remember about their daily routine
If adults today do not sleep until the morning, this is not a reason to do the same for children under 14 years old. Overwork, overeating, whims, nerves and fever are just some of the few companions of New Year's Eve for young children. Are you planning to finish the celebration before 1 am? Then make sure that the children stay with their grandparents, with a nanny, with relatives or family friends for this night. To ruin health and not sleep for 20 hours in a row is entertainment for adults.
6. Leave ice and snow alone
For some reason, after a few overturned glasses or glasses in the chilly winter season, there is a desire to go to mold a snowman, wander on the ice of a frozen river, or go sledging from the nearest hillock. As a result, a chaotically moving company, not in the most sober state, goes to experiment with the surrounding winter nature and then falls through the ice, breaks arms and legs, or simply earns guaranteed pneumonia. Even if you are celebrating outdoors, refrain from snowboards, skis, sledges and other drunken forays into the ice and snow.
7. Driving on New Year's Eve? Not the best idea
Even if a miracle happened and you do not take a drop of alcohol in your mouth on New Year's, this does not mean that everyone else will be the same conscientious citizens. The risk of getting into an accident or just a conflict situation on the road with the participation of not always sober road users (be they other drivers, pedestrians or even patrol officers) is definitely better to minimize. If you cannot get by public transport or get there on foot, take a taxi.
8. Top up your mobile phone balance in advance
Any unforeseen situation (good or bad) requires prompt communication. Changed your plans? Guests coming? Car breaks down and you are late? Did you have an accident and need a doctor? In all these and many other force majeure circumstances, the first necessary action is to call. A mobile phone with zero or negative balance will not help you. So on the eve of the 31st, fill up your subscriber account with a good amount of money in reserve. Then you can congratulate everyone you want, and in case of any incidents or unforeseen events you can always get in touch.
9. Passport in your pocket will not hurt
We sincerely hope that this will not happen to our readers, but sometimes in case of sudden contact with employees of law enforcement agencies, medical institutions, and even when selling you alcohol and cigarettes on New Year's Eve, a passport will help to avoid conflict situations, detention and refusal to provide you with first aid. Take care of yourself, but keep your passport nearby.
10. Do not do or say anything that you will regret in the morning
Alcoholic vapors, the noise of the party and the desire for light madness in the morning will fade away, but the actions will remain. Calls to the ex, hooligan antics on the streets of the city, attempts to understand the political predilections of their friends or their religious views can only end in quarrels, bruises, injuries and a fine, or even a criminal case. I doubt that you would like to see such "gifts" under the New Year tree. So be careful.
