5 Signs You're Not Celebrating New Year's Eve
5 Signs You're Not Celebrating New Year's Eve

This article is part of the Auto-da-fe project. In it, we declare war on everything that prevents people from living and becoming better: breaking laws, believing in nonsense, deceit and fraud. If you've come across a similar experience, share your stories in the comments.

1. You drain all the money

To prepare for the 2019 meeting, the average Russian spent 16, 9 thousand rubles - and this with an average salary in November last year of 42, 6 thousand. Loan funds accounted for 20% of expenses.

The desire to arrange a bright holiday for yourself in the middle of a gray winter is understandable, otherwise it is not so easy to survive it. But it is important to stop in time and remember that nothing ends on New Year's Eve. This is especially true for those whose payday falls on holidays. By law, the money will be transferred in advance, before the weekend. And if all of them are lowered right there, then there will be nothing to pay for food and travel until the advance payment.

It is shortsighted to spend a bonus, thirteenth salary or other material incentive on a holiday. It is best to put it in a piggy bank. Having enough money will help you avoid difficulties in the next 12 months much more effectively than believing in a New Year's miracle.

2. You sum up the results of the year incorrectly

People have different attitudes towards summing up: some adore, some hate. But one way or another, at the end of December, one has to look back in time and assess how the year has passed. Moreover, social networks are full of records where friends record their victories. And this makes us compare and often get upset.

The main mistake that can ruin the mood for all the holidays is to sort out failures and losses. They happen to everyone, and that's okay. Don't focus on problems. This is not karma, boomerang, or punishment for sins. Perhaps this is bad luck or a consequence of your actions. In any case, it is important to draw conclusions in order to prevent this in the future, and move on.

It is even more constructive to make a list of achievements. They are easily forgotten, so it is not easy to add new items to the list. But by doing this, you will be surprised how much you did in the past year.

All this work will help to step into the new year with optimism and not repeat mistakes.

3. You give the New Year a magical meaning

New Year's holidays are strongly associated with the expectation of a miracle. But now you grew up, learned that Santa Claus does not exist, and all the magic was provided to you by your parents. It's time to realize that any New Year's miracle is man-made.

You should not rely on supernatural powers in the expectation that the love of your life will be on your doorstep, a bag with billions will be thrown under the door, and after the chiming clock, the wizard from the blue helicopter will give 500 popsicles.

If you do nothing, then nothing will happen.

However, it is worth making New Year's wishes, as well as writing them down. But you don't need to burn a piece of paper with a list, stir it in champagne and choke on half-burnt scraps. Just keep the list. Then look at a sober head to understand what is really important to you and how to achieve it.

4. You postpone everything until January

In December, the Internet is filled with nostalgic jokes about products that have been in the fridge for weeks: "Don't touch, it's for New Years." But if you think about it, this is not only the case with food. Life in many of its aspects freezes, because all beginnings are postponed to January. And all the sequels follow the same direction.

If someone at the beginning of December decided to go in for sports, with a high degree of probability he will think: "Soon on January 1, in the new year I will buy a subscription." And to any work question, sometimes in November they answer: "Let's get back to this after the holidays."

Meanwhile, even two weeks is a long time. During this time, you can do a lot. You shouldn't pause your life.

5. You steal the holiday from others

It is normal not to love the New Year or to have your own opinion on how to celebrate it. But those around you don't have to share your opinion. Moreover, they have every right to adore the exact opposite. For example, to love traditional celebrations, to be photographed wrapped in garlands, and to gobble up Olivier, even if it all makes you sad.

You can simply not participate in all this. This is better than spoiling everyone's mood with sarcastic comments, mockery and condemnation. Because the New Year holidays will definitely pass, and people will stay (or not, if you are too unbearable).
