Onigiraz is a relatively recent culinary invention. It is a mixture of a classic onigiri (a rice triangle with savory filling) and a regular sandwich. A very satisfying and convenient option for a snack outside the home.
Ingredients
- 3 nori sheets;
- 2 cups boiled sushi rice
- 1 can (200 g) tuna in its own juice;
- 3-4 tablespoons of mayonnaise;
- 1 small fresh cucumber;
- ½ red sweet pepper;
- a handful of spinach leaves.
Start by preparing the ingredients for the filling. Season with boiled rice. Lifehacker has already talked about how to cook and season rice for sushi better here. Cut the vegetables into thin strips, rinse the spinach leaves well and dry.
Drain the excess liquid from the canned food can and take the fish apart. Season the tuna with mayonnaise and season with a dash of black pepper.
Collecting onigiraz is much easier than spinning regular rolls. Place a serving of boiled rice (about ⅓ cup) in the center of the nori sheet and distribute in a diamond shape. Place spinach leaves on top, followed by vegetables and fish. Cover the filling with another ⅓ cup of rice.
Fold the nori with an envelope. For better adhesion, the edges can be moistened with cold water.
Wrap the onigiraz tightly with cling film, making the sushi sandwich square. Set the dish aside for 10-15 minutes to allow the nori to adhere well and soak in the moisture of the rice.
Remove the foil and divide the onigira in half.
The dish can be served with or without soy sauce.
