How to run Android apps on Mac and Windows

Google ARC public beta today. ARC or App Runtime Chrome is a development environment that allows you to run Android apps on any system using Google Chrome. We ran a couple of apps and even games on the 2013 MacBook and decided to share what we got.

Launching the application is very simple. Necessary:

Download.
Install the extension.
Download the apk file of the required application and add it to the development environment.

By launching ARC Welder you will immediately see the "Add your APK" button. Having selected the installation file, you then need to specify the orientation of the application, on which device it will run and whether it will have access to the clipboard.

To begin with, I decided to test the program on an undemanding application and opted for Duolingo. The application launched instantly. It's like I was running it on a productive computer, not a smartphone.

There are no limitations in functionality. Sound works, tapes on the screen are replaced by clicking on the trackpad or mouse. Even the animations are smooth enough and the app never stutters.

However, all good impressions were dispelled when I decided to launch Subway Surfers. The game took a very long time to load and in the end it never got past the loading screen, although I waited for three to four minutes.

After that I downloaded Doodle Jump and it started up without any problems. True, there is no way to control the game - of course, there is no accelerometer in the computer, and they did not come up with an analogue for it in the utility. At least for now.

It is clear that ARC Welder is a utility for developers. But playing around with Android apps on your computer is fun enough. Especially considering the fact that almost all of them work without lags and delays. Well, and of course, uploading photos to Instagram from your computer will be! Although, if you have wanted this for a long time, then it is better to use this application.
