Instead of waiting for a happy coincidence, take action.
Looking at some successful people, you might think they were just lucky. And although luck does sometimes interfere with our lives, it never comes just like that. Tina Seelig, Ph. D. and author of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Course at Stanford University, believes it takes hard work and deeper introspection to attract good luck. And you can start with these steps.
1. Rethink the concept of luck
Many people consider luck to be something uncontrollable, completely random. But a happy coincidence of circumstances can be "adjusted". The more actions on your part aimed at achieving the desired result, the higher the likelihood that you will be lucky. It would seem to be a common truth, but many are waiting for the cherished chance from fate, although, simply by changing the definition of “luck” in your head, you are more likely to attract it to your side.
2. Don't forget about gratitude
We often do not appreciate what others do for us, taking it for granted. If you train yourself to notice these things and express gratitude for them, your life will change.
3. Take risks
You’ll never get anywhere if you don’t try. Look at famous athletes and think: did they end up where they are now, thanks to blind luck? Of course not. All of them at first took a risk, picking up a tennis racket or signing up for boxing classes. And this risk paid off handsomely.
Don't be afraid to do something the first time, to do something new. Go and say hello to the person you need, look into a cafe where you have not been before. Take a chance and new opportunities will open up before you.
4. Unleash crazy ideas
Be prepared to experiment and implement crazy ideas, even if they seem impossible. Don't reject them right away! Try to tell them yes before you start listing the reasons why they are not realistic. Learn to agree by default.
5. Cultivate tenacity and perseverance
While hard work and the acquisition of the skills needed to make your dreams come true, the key ingredient in luck is perseverance. Remember how often you did not succeed in something the first time and you gave up your endeavor? By learning from past mistakes and failures, you will move forward much faster. And luck will follow you on your heels.
6. Look for causation
Every action has consequences, no matter how insignificant it may seem. This also applies to such global things as work or family relationships, and smaller ones, for example, with whom you spend time.
If you're just living on autopilot, hanging out with people who don't inspire you, and doing work you don't develop in, forget about your luck. Always think about the causes and consequences of what is happening to you, and then you can reshape your life.
Many unconsciously limit themselves, sitting in a box that shakes them. And when reading stories about people living in interesting places and doing what they love, they ask: "How did they manage it?" And the answer is obvious: they just did it.
So try it too. And may good luck be with you!
