Doom Eternal is the sequel to 2016's Doom shooter Doom Eternal. The previous part has won many awards and the love of the gaming community for the hurricane gameplay, gorgeous music and atmosphere. The id Software studio is working on the project - the creator of all the main games of the franchise, starting with Doom in 1993.

Doom Eternal is largely based on Doom II: the developers promise everything the same as in the first part, but even bigger, meaner and more sophisticated. Players will find new types of weapons, monsters, locations and devices for killing demons.

When Doom Eternal comes out

There is no exact date for the release of the shooter on PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 yet. What happened in the previous part

Distant future. The United Aerospace Corporation (UAC), based on Mars, is finding a way to draw energy from hell. Several expeditions are sent to the underworld. One of them finds a mysterious sarcophagus and transports it to Mars.

One of the main scientists of the corporation, the terminally ill Olivia Pierce, makes an agreement with the forces of hell and opens the way for them to the complex. To cope with their offensive, the head of the KLA, Samuel Hayden, unseals the sarcophagus, which, as it turned out, was the main character - the Executioner of Doom, the only creature that the demons fear.

The executioner begins to hunt for Olivia Pierce, but she opens another portal and transports herself and him to hell. The main character finds a teleport left by one of the KLA expeditions and returns to Mars.

There, with the help of Hayden, the Executioner learns about the existence of the Crucible - an artifact that can close the portal to hell. He travels to the underworld, finds the Crucible and kills Olivia Pierce, who has turned into a giant cyber spider.

Immediately after defeating Olivia, Hayden teleports the hero back to Mars, immobilizes him, takes the Crucible and explains that he is not going to close the passage between dimensions.

What will Doom Eternal be about

Further experiments by the KLA to siphon energy from the underworld turned into DOOM Eternal - the presentation of the gameplay was an even greater disaster. The forces of hell attacked the Earth. The Executioner of Doom will have to fight them on our planet, as well as on the Mars satellite Phobos.

Also, judging by the levels and concept art that the developers showed QuakeCon-2018 Keynote at QuakeCon-2018, the hero will visit the world of guards - spirits that could be seen in the first part.

The main gameplay innovations of the sequel are new types of weapons, gadgets and monsters. Doom Slayer will have a shoulder flamethrower and a hook on a chain, which can be used to pull yourself to surfaces and enemies.

The hero's arsenal will also be replenished with a ballista similar to the Gauss cannon from the previous part, a retractable blade and a Crucible that looks like a laser sword. Old weapons will have additional firing modes: for example, a shotgun can turn into a three-barreled machine gun.

The executioner will receive new movement options. He will be able to jerk to the sides, climb walls in special areas and grab the bars.

Even in Eternal, demons will appear, which were not in the previous part. For example, Archvile and Arachnotron from Doom 2 from 1994, and Doomhunter, who has not yet been in the series.

There will be no multiplayer modes in the sequel. However, users will be able to enter other people's games in the form of demons using the invasion function.
