Simple passwords - into the furnace!

When it comes to choosing a password, it's best to use your imagination as much as possible. Otherwise, one day, waking up early in the morning, you will not be able to go to one of the social networks or feel like Jennifer Lawrence. Let's take a look at combinations that should definitely not be on your list, as well as programs that allow you to generate strong passwords.

In most cases, users prefer simplicity to security, and create passwords that are very easy to remember. Therefore, they are often hacked, they steal extremely important data, pages on social networks and money.

A list of simple passwords that are most often used, and therefore hacked:

  • Ascending or descending numbers … It could be 1234, 12345 or 9876 … According to many polls, these are the most popular passwords. You don't want to make the same mistake, do you? Then throw it in the trash quickly!
  • Letters and numbers in order … Another great combination - abc123 or 123abc … Be bolder, at least mix up the symbols.
  • Date of Birth … Never write your date of birth in the password, in any combination: 03051995 or 19760327 … Yes, it is very easy to remember, but also very easy to hack.
  • Name or surname … Here's another great example of how not to do it - write your first or last name: michael, dasha or ivanov.
  • Password … Another great password is “password”. What could be more original? We also send the password "password" to the furnace.
  • Sport … If you are a sports fan, it is possible that you will have sports terms in your passwords: football, basketball, skating, joga, swimming and the like. Forget about them too!
  • Comics … Well, if you like comics, among your passwords you will definitely find superman or batman … When hacking your mail, their superpowers will not help you!
  • Middle earth … I advise Tolkienists not to use the names and names of various creatures, lands and names, like middle-earth, hobbit, dragon, gandalf, saruman, sauron … Their powers do not work in the human world, they will not protect against hacking!
  • Fauna … Very often, users use the names of animals as a password: monkey, horse or lion … Let's love our smaller brothers offline!

In order not to fool yourself and not come up with a complex password that can be easily forgotten or lost, special programs are used. One of the most popular remains 1Password for OS X and iOS. It generates complex passwords from uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and various special characters. You can save existing passwords in 1Password and track their strength. The main thing is to come up with a strong password to enter the program itself.

1Password's biggest competitor is LastPass. This is also a great program, it also generates and stores passwords. LastPass is free, with the exception of a few features, but it is quite effective and reliable without them.

In general, if you go to the App Store now, you can find many programs that store passwords, there are also various interesting services for Mac, such as Keepass or Splashdata. And the Safari browser itself does an excellent job of storing and generating passwords. So now you don't need to keep many different combinations in your head. It is enough just to come up with something original and save it in one of the programs.

Do you use programs for storing passwords or do you remember everything the old fashioned way?
