Many modern smartphones and tablets are equipped with fingerprint scanners to identify the owner and restrict unauthorized access to the device. The key difference between modern fingerprint sensors and those used in laptops several years ago is the speed and accuracy of measurements. The process of reading and verifying biometric data is completely invisible and natural for the user.

For example, Elephone introduced the U-Disk flash drive, which protects data through encryption that can only be overcome through a fingerprint scanner. U-Disk disk space is divided into two parts: public and encrypted. The first is available immediately when the drive is connected to a computer and is in no way protected from prying eyes. The second part, encrypted, requires user authentication with a fingerprint to access the data.

The body of the protected flash drive is made of metal. The manufacturer promises fast and high-quality operation of the used fingerprint scanner. At the same time, the USB standard and the amount of U-Disk memory have not yet been reported. In addition, there are certain questions about encryption. The manufacturer prefers not to disclose the encryption method, and also does not indicate the need for additional software on the user's computer to encrypt and decrypt data.

If Elephone is able to give decent answers to all the questions that arise to U-Disk, then a flash drive can become a very popular and demanded solution for storing data under protection.
