French company Stanley Robotics has proposed a solution to the problem of overcrowded parking near major airports. She developed a parking robot called Stan.

This autonomous device will pick up passengers preparing for departure and take them to designated parking spaces. Moreover, Stan will place them much more densely than usual.

For car owners, it will be enough just to leave the car in a special box, from where the robot will immediately pick it up. It itself has a flat wheeled platform that allows you to drive under the car and lift it by clamping the wheels.

All Stan's actions will be performed automatically, avoiding obstacles and carefully squeezing between the rows of cars already delivered to the parking lot. The cars themselves are placed almost closely, since with such an organization of the process, the need to leave space on the sides to open the doors simply disappears.

Cars are arranged according to the return date specified by the owner. On the day of arrival, the car will be moved to the edge of the parking lot so that Stan can quickly deliver it at the owner's request.

The robot will be tested at London Gatwick Airport in the South Terminal parking lot from August 2019. According to preliminary calculations, using such devices, it will be possible to place about 270 cars in the existing 170 parking spaces.
