A year and a half ago, Facebook began supporting 360-degree video, a year ago - spherical photos. Now the company has released an application for easy viewing of the accumulated content - Facebook 360, which will not be available to all users.
Facebook 360 allows you to view VR content based on your followings and posts in your friend feed. To run the program, you need a Facebook account and a Gear VR. The app does not work with other helmets and VR glasses.
Facebook 360 has four simple functions so far:
- groups VR content posted by your friends or posted on the pages you follow;
- aggregates content from the posts you have saved on Facebook;
- hosts your 360-degree photos and videos;
- allows you to search for any VR content uploaded to Facebook by other users.
All posts in Facebook 360 support likes and reactions, and you can also repost them from the app to your Facebook page.
You can download the app from the Oculus Store or the Oculus website.
Recall that Gear VR is a virtual reality helmet released for Samsung smartphones. Smartphones from other manufacturers are not compatible with it.
