Logos aside, the MateBook X can easily be confused with the 12-inch MacBook. In technical terms, the Chinese novelty and the laptop from Apple also have several similarities - although there are important differences.

The similarity does not end with the pink, gray and gold body colors. Like the MacBook, the MateBook X's port selection is very minimal: the user gets two USB C slots for charging and other needs.

Common to the two computers is a cooling system without fans. In both cases, heat dissipation and heat dissipation materials are used to make notebooks even thinner and lighter. And the device from Huawei in this matter even surpassed the competitor: 12.5 mm in thickness against 13.1 mm.

As an alternative to the 12 "Retina display with a resolution of 2,440 x 1,440 pixels, the 13" MateBook X offers a 2K display. The advantage of the latter is in thinner, practically absent frames around the screen. Another strong multimedia aspect of the device is Dolby Atmos sound.

The novelty is equipped with a seventh generation Intel Core i7 chip, while the MacBook is based on Intel Core m processors. The amount of memory in the MateBook X is comparable to that of a laptop from Apple: up to 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.

Huawei claims the device will last 10 hours of 1080p video playback, but the MateBook X has yet to be tested in practice.

Of the significant differences: the first full-fledged Huawei laptop received a fingerprint scanner built into the power button. This makes it convenient to log in, especially if several people are constantly using the laptop.

Also, while many MacBook users are happy with the butterfly keyboard mechanism, the MateBook X may benefit from the traditional 1.2mm travel keys. The keyboard is splash-proof.

Prices for the MateBook X start at $ 1,570, while the cheapest MacBook configuration starts at $ 1,800.

Alongside the MateBook X, the more powerful MateBook D laptop was unveiled at yesterday's event in Berlin, as well as the 2-in-1 device, the MateBook E. But it seems that the MateBook X from this trio has a better chance of recognition.
