Many people in their dreams strive for work in which they know nothing. For example, some people want to write a book. Yes, every second will tell you that he has a mega-idea for a bestseller!

No such writer will publish a book, and most likely will not even finish it. They don't care how many words a week needs to be written to finish a book by a certain deadline, they don't care where the publisher is located, they don't make plans.

At first, such a person is inspired by his ideas and, possibly, thoughts of fame and begins to write. But more often than not, it does not last long. The idea very quickly exhausts itself, and the person is left with a couple of three chapters and a feeling of resentment and disappointment: “How so? I followed my dream, but in the end it didn't work out?"

People don't know what they really love

By advising a person to do what he loves, you are doing him a disservice. Because it is difficult for people to understand whether they love the real business or only the image of this business that lives in their heads and is shrouded in a romantic halo.

Imagine a young man with a low IQ and a strong desire to become a doctor. Most likely, he will not even be able to enter medical school. Not passing the exams, the failed doctor will earn himself an inferiority complex and will suffer all his life because he could not be realized in his field, in the business that he considered his mission.

When you think about what you would like to do, you see only the projection of the deed in your thoughts, not the deed itself. To find out if it really suits you, you need to plunge into this field of activity for a while, to be in the thick of things.

You can insist as long as you like that you have undeniable talent and have decided to write a bestseller, but until you finish and publish at least one book, you cannot know for sure.

There is work to be done

If everyone does what he thinks he loves, society will cease to function. There are professions that people think are easier and more creative: writer, screenwriter, actor. But society will not be able to exist without people of the most ordinary professions: salesmen, tailors, drivers, scavengers … Does this mean that those who choose a profession by skills, and not by the call of their hearts, lose their lives full of passion and creativity? Not at all.

How to find your calling
How to find your calling

It doesn't matter what you do, what matters is what you think about it.

Find a job that you are good at. It doesn’t have to be delightful, the main thing is that you don’t have to be excruciatingly bored or ill.

To become a master and love what you do, you first need to think not about your pleasure, fame and wealth, but about what you can create and offer to others. What you give to the people around you is part of your mission. Maybe the chosen business will not please your ego, but you will go to work with pleasure every day, feel that this world needs you, that you are in your place.

You will not necessarily find your business right away

Everything that happens in your life is not accidental. Everything leads you to your destination, even if you haven't figured it out yet.

Many people after university do not work in their specialty, and this is not surprising. How can you at 16 understand what you want to do in life? At this age, even the brain is not fully formed and thoughts mainly revolve around communication with peers and first relationships.

Someone needs less time to find themselves, someone more. The whole question is how you will feel during this quest: suffer because you are out of place, dream of the ideals built in your head, and hate your life or be happy to do the work you are doing, and periodically try what something new.

Who knows, maybe another temporary job on the way to your dream will turn out to be your real destiny?
