Each of us received advertising SMS. Sometimes they come at the most inconvenient moment and distract from important matters. It's time to fight them. And we found a way. We are ready to share with you a method of fighting SMS spam.

How to get rid of annoying SMS spam

First, let's get a little bit of theory. Bulk SMS can be legal or illegal. That is: either you agreed to receive such messages, or you did not. And you could agree without even noticing it.

For example, you replenished your account through special machines. A couple of times they pressed "I Agree" under the long boring text, entered their number, threw in a couple of bills. Congratulations, with a 90% chance you have subscribed to an advertising SMS.

But there are also cases when you did not leave your mobile number anywhere, but spam still arrives. It is possible that your mobile operator is not entirely respectable. And maybe he's selling numbers to advertisers. Let's start fighting annoying ads.

Call to those who sent the advertising SMS

In no case, not by the number that was in the SMS!

Find a company by website, phone or internet address. Find their phone number or email and ask them not to send you advertising SMS and remove them from the database. They are required to do so by law.

An alternative to this method can be the use of a special service:. You need to fill in the information about the SMS that you received and then the service will do everything for you. They will contact the author of the mailing list and ask him not to do this again. A big disadvantage is that you need to write a new request for each SMS. But it so happens that they come in 5 pieces per day. But nothing can be done. ¯_ (ツ) _ / ¯

Call to the operator

Call your operator and leave a complaint about the SMS. Also ask to be excluded from all promotional emails. And do not get fooled by the proposal to enable the "Stop SMS-spam" option and the like. Why should you pay for poor operator performance?

Do not expect high results from this method. At least you will stop receiving advertising SMS from the operator. In my case, it worked for the Ukrainian operator life. I advise you to write emails, write on all social networks and call. It is worth annoying them in the same way as you are annoyed by advertising SMS.

Blacklist programs

Another way to deal with unwanted SMS can be applications for the phone. There are special programs that will prevent unwanted messages from reaching your phone. And there are a lot of such applications in the market. Choose which one you like. We present a pair for Android.

But iPhone users are more difficult. Such applications are not allowed in the AppStore. But you can create a contact, for example, with the name Spam. Disable notifications for this contact and add spammer numbers to it.

However, this method does not work at all if the name is specified in the "Sender number" field, and not numbers. The program simply will not be able to determine the number in order to add it to the black list.

Evil customer method

Do you like to receive promotional SMS? And you were not even asked permission. This means that you can use his own weapon against the enemy. Having received an advertising SMS from another taxi or pizzeria service, place an order from them. Order pizzas for $ 50-100 or call a taxi to go from one end of town to the other. One "but", order to someone else's address.

After you place an order, with peace of mind, add the service number to the blacklist so that they cannot reach you. This method should definitely work. Would you like to advertise your services to such an evil customer?

Just do not make fun of the companies that you use or will use. Most likely, they will blacklist you.

Complaint to the authorities

If none of the above methods help you, then it's time to become Germans. That is, to complain to the appropriate authorities. In the Russian Federation, since the end of October, a law has come into force prohibiting sending spam. A fine of 100,000 rubles.

A complaint can be filed with the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), Roskomnadzor or the prosecutor's office. But remember that along with the request to stop mailing, the FAS may transfer your personal data. For example, name and phone number. What consequences this may have is anyone's guess.

Output

In order not to receive unwanted SMS, you need:

  • Call the operator and ask to unsubscribe from all mailings;
  • Ask to remove you from the database of those who sent you SMS;
  • Install the Blacklist application.

And, for the future, you should not distribute your phone right and left to all kinds of firms, banks, shops. And be careful when entering your mobile number on various sites. Read carefully what you agree to. And never follow the links that come to you via SMS.
