Authy is a service for all existing platforms that allows you to replace two-factor authentication with a safer and faster login method.

Two-factor authentication is the best way to keep yourself safe from hacking at the moment. However, the method itself is imperfect and not very convenient. Authy service allows you to improve authentication, forgetting about SMS with passwords, the need to always be in touch and long waiting for the code.

This is an application for all platforms (iOS, Android, Mac, Windows), which replaces the password from SMS with a six-digit code, which the application issues automatically and which disappears after 12 seconds.

Setting up the app for the first time is not so easy, and to be honest, I got stuck at some points. I'll walk you through how to set it up on iOS and Mac, although the process itself is the same as on Android and Windows.

After entering your phone number and receiving a six-digit code on it (for the last time in your life!), The application is activated and linked to your number and mail. Now you need to figure out which services use two-factor authentication. The most popular are Gmail and Dropbox.

First of all, it was Gmail that was interesting to me, since many other services allow registering with it, and each time I had to wait for an SMS and enter a password.

Here's how to add Authy to Gmail. First, go to your Google account settings.

Next, go to the "Security" tab → "Two-factor authentication settings" → "Create codes in the application" and select your device. A QR code will then appear.

This QR code needs to be scanned using Authy - this is what it will ask you to do when you want to add a new service to the database.

After scanning, Authy will pull Gmail into its database, and now, when you need to enter an authentication code, instead of SMS, you can take a one-time code in the application.

Another advantage of Authy is that it exists for almost all platforms, and you can connect devices with each other via Bluetooth in order to enter codes as quickly as possible.

The service is very cool. While it's not easy to set up for the first time, it's 100% worth it. You will save much more time in the future, when you do not have to wait for an SMS with a code every time. Authy is free for all platforms and I highly recommend using it.
