The World Expo 2015 is held in Milan, Italy under the slogan “Feed the Planet. Energy for life. The world's population is growing, migration is increasing, living space is decreasing, natural resources are drying up, food is becoming more expensive, and questions of economy are becoming more and more menacing. In the coming decades, our living environment will change along with our habits. Last but not least, our home will be transformed, including the kitchen - the heart of any home, the center of its activity, comfort and creativity.

IKEA thinks so. The Swedes need no introduction. Who, if not them, know about our life and the comfort of our home. For 18 months, the company's specialists worked in conjunction with IDEO London (a large design firm) and a group of students from Lund University and the Technical University of Eindhoven. The fruits of joint efforts have taken on real outlines, which simply cannot be passed by. So, what did the guys come up with so interesting? Let's consider the elements of the kitchen separately.

Cooking

What would you prefer in a compact kitchen: a large stove or a spacious table? In our case, the question is, in principle, not worth it. Here, a familiar piece of furniture combines both a hob and a dining table, as well as a chopping table, a workspace and a play area.

A well-coordinated system of several cameras and projectors recognizes products and suggests recipes based on them. The smart assistant keeps track of the cooking time so that you can get through with the planned without delay. The table will tell you the chemical composition of your dishes and their calorie content - it will become much easier to monitor your health. He knows how to minimize waste without forgetting to feed all family members.

Still not confident in your abilities? At your service there is a live broadcast of cooking lessons from loved ones or any other recording on the Internet. And you do not need to flicker: the picture is projected directly onto the surface of the table, under which the induction coils are located. Such an electric stove automatically adjusts the heating temperature. At the same time, you cannot burn your hands, back and other parts of the body about it, if a well-fed partner decides to immediately thank you for a wonderful dinner. And while you're busy, mobile devices will charge wirelessly.

Food storage

There is no refrigerator in the kitchen of the future as we know it. The two-meter bandura will give way to compact shelves for storing only the freshest and most essential products. The usual weekends bagging scheme with an eye on the whole week will fade into oblivion. Unmanned drones will deliver meat, vegetables and everything-everything-everything in a matter of minutes in exceptional condition.

All food is placed in a conspicuous place in a transparent dish, which practically excludes spoilage due to your forgetfulness and inattention. You spend less on energy and late purchases - the savings are clear.

Cooling of food to the required level is almost completely automated. All that is required of a person is to re-stick the electronic tag from the packaging to the outside of a special storage container. Induction shelves read the information and set the optimum temperature. Smart cookware made of a special alloy will automatically switch from freezing to cooking when placed on the stove.

Recycling

The campaign for separate waste collection may soon get a little unexpected turn: citizens will start paying for non-recyclable and recyclable waste at separate tariffs. And in general, prices will rise. This will draw attention to the environment. People willy-nilly will join the "green movement", and will help them with this home sorting systems.

The organic waste, which is flushed down the sink, will go to the filtration system, where it will be dried and compressed into briquettes.

Inorganic waste will be sorted by material. The sensitive container identifies what the jar, bottle or package is made of, separates them, seals them in a vacuum jacket and applies a thermal label with information about the possibility of reuse.

Water turnover

One of the main sources of life is greatly underestimated these days. But increasingly drier years will soon change the situation. We will become more careful with the water from the tap, and by that time he will have gained innovations.

The standard sink will have two modes of operation. When it is tilted to the left, "gray" water will drain into a storage tank, and later be used for watering plants or washing dishes.

A tilt to the right will direct the "black" stream into a regular sewer for cleaning.

Conclusion

I really liked the concept from IKEA. It seems that the designers and engineers have guessed right with everything: the most versatile cooking surface, compact storage shelves, smart dishes, environmentally friendly waste collection and drainage systems. The only thing that seemed to me wrong was the timing of the project. I think the future can be brought closer by a few years. Let it be not in our area. What do you think?
