Avito is a site with which you can sell everything that you no longer need, and buy things that have already served someone cheaper than in a store. Users set their own prices for their goods and choose who to give them to and on what terms.

Together with Avito, we launched a project about people who are conscious about consumption. In the last article, Lifehacker's videographer told how he buys equipment at half the price of the regular price. The heroes of this material managed to sell an old kitchen set in three days, and another time - to buy a rare disc for only 500 rubles.

We are Sasha and Nastya. We live in Voronezh, travel, take photographs, renovate our dacha and love coffee.

Why we started selling on Avito

At some point, we realized that we had a lot of unnecessary things. We bought a new model of a coffee grinder - the old one is idle. Or they saw that as many as five blood pressure monitors, bought by different family members, were dangling at home.

All this could easily be useful to someone else. Then we started putting up everything unnecessary but valuable for sale. We were very pleased that our old things are finding a second life somewhere else, and we are freeing the house and getting money for it.

Some items sell instantly, others take months. When we renovated the kitchen, we bought our old set in three days. And the PlayStation 3 was not taken for almost a year. But then she found the owner. The main thing is to set an adequate price and not be greedy.

Avito has its own free delivery service: you just take the item to the collection point, and it is sent to the buyer anywhere. This is how we sold a vacuum cleaner from Voronezh to Chelyabinsk.

We are so used to selling everything that is unnecessary that now unnecessary things begin to annoy even in other people's houses. For example, when we come to visit our parents and see how they have everything stored for decades. Sometimes we still manage to persuade them to sell something, but it is not easy for people to part with their favorite things, even if they do not need them. And we think this way: this thing has already served you well - let it now serve someone else.

We now have 60 completed sales and about 10 purchases.

What we buy on Avito

First of all, all sorts of rare things that just can't be found. Nastya really wanted a vinyl record by The Beatles with the song Eight Days a Week from the TV series "Clinic". She met us only in foreign music stores and cost terrible money. And then we found an advertisement: a woman in our city was selling her old records, and among them was the same one. For 500 rubles!

We are coffee fans: we have an Italian coffee machine at home and a bunch of other special devices. Now many coffee shops are opening, some then go broke and sell equipment. We look at these ads on Avito so we don't miss out on something cool.

We also ordered the book "Russian Mat" as a gift to our Italian friend who is learning Russian. To be honest, we ourselves learned a lot of interesting expressions from it!

On Avito you can find the most unexpected things that you will not find in stores.

Another opportunity, which not everyone knows about, is to offer and find different services. We are actively using this service because we are doing repairs. For example, when we tidied up the dacha, we had to take out a lot of all kinds of rubbish. We rented a huge container, and a day later it was simply taken away with the garbage. It cost us very cheap, plus we didn't have to puzzle ourselves what to do with it.

A few tips for those who want to start using Avito

  1. Don't get attached to things. Sell what you no longer use. If you are asked to give a thing a little cheaper than you planned, give it back.
  2. Pricing your items reasonably. Even if you love these things anxiously, they are no longer new and cannot cost the same as in the store.
  3. Put a pretty penny in the price for bargaining. Buyers are very pleased to reduce the price by at least 100 rubles.
  4. Please be aware that there is no return or purchase guarantee here. Inspect everything carefully, check, ask about everything before you buy.
  5. Haggle, but don't offer the person to sell something good for a pittance. Sellers get very angry when they are told "I take for a thousand right now" if the quoted price is much higher. For a thousand, everyone will take it right now!
  6. Always look at the buyer's adequacy. If you are offered to discuss everything by email, bypassing the service, these are most likely scammers. If the account seems strange to you, click on the "Complain" button under the ad. Bots and scammers are quickly blocked.
