This film is the debut work of Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan. But this did not prevent the film from becoming a breakthrough and immediately attracting the attention of critics and viewers. For example, at the Sundance Festival, the film won a statuette for Best Director.

Thanks to the film, we not only learned about new talented directors - "The Swiss Knife Man" rediscovered the talent of Daniel Radcliffe, known to everyone for his role as Harry Potter. The actor took a chance, agreeing to the strange role of a corpse, and he was right.

The film was shot by the master of soulful cinema Rob Reiner. Among the director's works are the legendary "When Harry Met Sally", "The Princess Bride" and other significant films for cinema. This film, like all of Reiner's work, “hits the strings of the soul”. He also leaves behind a pleasant aftertaste, and most importantly - the desire to live. Live for real.

3. What men talk about

  • Russia, 2010.
  • Comedy.
  • Duration: 93 minutes.
  • IMDb: 7, 5.

The four men set off on a journey. On the way, the quartet encounters many ridiculous situations, and they tell and invent even more comic stories. Most of the way, the heroes discuss women, the midlife crisis and questions of their future. After all, they know that even the most secret thoughts and dreams can be told to real friends.

The film is rightly called by critics "the first Russian mumblecore", because the pictures of this genre are usually a mixture of script, improvisation and life dialogues. The naturalness of the conversations between the characters makes the film simple and understandable - as if watching a recording of the journey of your friends. And funny inserts-fantasies about which men tell, and life humor make any viewer laugh.

But one day Rory enters the orphanage - a life-loving and impudent wheelchair user who immediately finds a common language with Michael. He does not even suspect what a tremendous impact the optimist Rory will have on his life.

The film is based on the story of Christian O'Reilly, who had experience working in a nursing home. There, the author met a patient who had cerebral palsy. And James McAvoy (the rebel Rory) before filming talked a lot with patients who were diagnosed with muscular dystrophy - this is exactly the disease that plagues his character. As James found out, what these people hated most was self-pity.

Enlisting the support of his brother and sister, Elliot tries to send the alien home.

The picture immerses the viewer in the world of children: most of the narrative is devoted to the communication of brothers and sisters with an alien, and the camera almost always shoots at the level of the child's eyes. Therefore, we practically do not see the faces of adults in the frame - until the turning point in the plot.

The film was directed by Steven Spielberg, who needs no introduction. The picture became the highest grossing in the decade after its release. Also, the film is of immense importance to pop culture.

The legendary Soviet rom-com has become an imperishable classic of Russian cinema. And fragments of dialogues from "Girls" went to the people and turned into catch phrases.

The film received recognition not only in the USSR, but also abroad. And the performer of the main role, Nadezhda Rumyantseva, was even nicknamed by the foreign press "Charlie Chaplin in a skirt."

During the journey, the strict old man and the yellow-faced schoolboy get to know each other better, and a real friendship develops between them.

As a result, throughout the entire film it is very interesting to watch how a naive boy acquires the features of an adult man, and a callous old man finds a place in his heart to believe in the best. Another picture by Rob Reiner from our list. The film has become a classic of American cinema, and is cited by other directors in their works. For example, in Stranger Things, there is a moment when four teenagers are walking along the train tracks - and this is a direct reference to the work of Reiner.

The respected musician is going on a tour of the southern states, and Tony should not only transport him, but also help with various issues. As a result, two men from different universes become friends and change each other.

The film won an Oscar for Best Picture and was enthusiastically received by both film critics and audiences. It is noteworthy that a deep drama on a serious topic was directed by Peter Farrelli, the director of the famous comedies Dumb and Dumber and Me, Me and Irene. In them, the author has already played up the themes of travel and strong friendship. It is also interesting that the "Green Book" has absorbed not only the director's favorite motives, but also first-class humor.

10. 1+1

  • France, 2011.
  • Drama, comedy, biography.
  • Duration: 112 minutes.
  • IMDb: 8, 5.

The film is based on real events and tells about the friendship of a disabled aristocrat and a guy from the street. Driss lives on unemployment benefits and needs a written waiver from his employer to receive the money. Therefore, he comes for an interview with Philip, a paralyzed millionaire, supposedly to get the role of a nurse. Philip notices in a black bully something that he does not see in others: spontaneity, humanity, lightness. Suddenly he hires Driss, and a strong and true friendship is struck between such different people.

"1 + 1" is, in fact, a reimagined story of Pygmalion, which shows us the power of the influence of people on each other. The alternation of poignant dramatic and funny comic moments makes the film a kind of emotional roller coaster. But the truly magical picture becomes thanks to the play of actors - especially Omar Si. For the role of the optimistic Driss, the artist received the prestigious Cesar Prize.
