Victoria's Secret models are considered some of the most beautiful women on earth. But behind beautiful bodies is a lot of work and the strictest adherence to the rules prescribed by nutritionists and trainers. Do you want to know what you need to go through in order to at least come close to the parameters of the girls from Victoria's Secret? Read about a four-month experiment by fitness blogger Poppy Cross.

This experiment resulted in four months of very hard work. The initial requirements for all applicants for the title of "angel": height not lower than 175 cm, waist volume - not more than 61 cm. This, in fact, ends all genetics and begins the hard work, as, as the creative director of Victoria's Secret says Sofia Neophytou -Apostle (Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou), "they should be like Olympians - always at their peak."

Body

The main goal of obtaining an "angel" body, in addition to the parameters listed above, is the percentage of body fat less than 18%. In a healthy fit woman, the percentage of body fat ranges from 21 to 24%, in athletes this value is 14-20%.

Poppy Cross's parameters before the start of the experiment: waist 66 cm, body fat percentage 22%.

Personal trainer Poppy Cross at the time of the experiment, Dan Roberts, who worked with VS (Victoria's Secret) models, said that the buttocks should be hard as concrete, the oblique abdominal muscles should stand out so that even a quick glance would catch their outline, skinny arms should look like Gisele Bündchen's hands, and the hips will have to be worked on to make them "sharper". In addition, you need to reduce your body fat percentage by a whole percentage, which means serious training.

Workout plan

The plan consisted of a huge amount of strength training with extra weight: squats, deadlifts, weighted lunges, biceps and triceps exercises, and push-ups. A “lightweight workout plan” was developed for Cross, which included one strength training with extra weight under Dan's supervision plus 3-4 more home workouts: 20-minute interval sprint, 1-hour strength training with additional weight, Pilates, boxing and ballet. …

A month later, the number of classes under the supervision of Roberts increased to four per week, but the “homework” also did not go away, that is, 7-8 workouts per week. Classes were held every day, and on some days it turned out to be two workouts.

The first month was very difficult. Cross said she needed an extra hour of sleep to recover, and she had three colds during the experiment. But by the end of the third month, she could lift 72 kg in deadlift - this is more than she weighs!

Diet

The Cross's diet consisted mainly of liquids and expensive supplements and pills: a vitamin-mineral complex, digestive enzymes, BCAA - a complex of amino acids that help the body burn more fat, and SeroSyn - a complex specifically designed to maintain a positive attitude.

Dr. Charles Passler, Victoria's Secret Nutritionist, put Poppy on a low-carb, high-protein, high-fat (keto) diet of chicken, fish, or beef at almost every meal! If it was not possible to eat meat, it was replaced with food with an equivalent amount of protein, for example, three eggs replaced one serving of chicken. Sugar-containing foods were completely excluded, including even fruits.

In the first month, Cross could eat vegetables. These were mainly vegetables growing "above the ground": squash, lettuce, sprouts (legumes or wheat) and broccoli. But then she had to switch to the diet that VS models sit on before the shows: only fats and protein! In order to maintain the energy level at the proper level, one had to take two tablespoons of vegetable or butter with each meal. It has become very difficult to eat in restaurants or at home celebrations.

After each workout, a protein shake based on coconut water or almond milk was required, plus a protein bar as a snack. All training took place on an empty stomach. Before classes, you could drink black coffee or water, to which vitamin and mineral powder was added.

In order to prevent calories from settling in the form of fat, the last meal was at six o'clock in the evening. Alcohol was completely banned.

By the end of the experiment, Poppy Cross had barely lost any weight, but her clothes had shrunk by at least one size. In the waist, the girl lost 5 cm, her breasts, unfortunately, also decreased by one size. In addition to external physical changes, internal ones also took place: due to a diet low in carbohydrates (and the complete elimination of "fast" ones), cholesterol levels significantly decreased.

It took a ridiculously small amount of time to get these results, but a lot of physical and psychological effort.

It is impossible to live in such a mode permanently, even if you are a Victoria's Secret model, since it implies an almost complete absence of family and social life. Moreover, it is unhealthy, and even for "angels" VS such a regime is not permanent.

Dr. Passler warns that a low-carb diet is not intended for long-term use, as it can lead to problems such as nutritional deficiencies and an imbalance in normal gut bacteria.

As you can see, the appearance of an "angel" is only partially given at birth. Everything else is very hard work on oneself, physically and psychologically. And the fact that even Victoria's Secret models live in this mode only a certain part of the time (mainly before filming or fashion shows) proves once again that one cannot constantly equalize in the photographs of models - this is fraught with health problems and a drop in self-esteem below the baseboard.

It is better to stick to a balanced diet and find your sweet spot in your workouts, which will allow you to feel full of energy and keep your body in good shape. And if you want to prove something to yourself, you can go through the four-month hell of Poppy Cross, but only under the supervision of a personal trainer and after consulting a nutritionist and doctor!
