Let's remember a wonderful feature in Windows that allows you to glue Windows Explorer and various programs to the edges of the screen. It is difficult to disagree with the fact that this feature is quite convenient. The pages of MacRadar have more than once published reviews of applications that implemented similar functionality in OS X. But each of these utilities was not something that could be a replacement. But, it seems, I still found one that will satisfy the requirements of everyone.
The fact is that the analogs did not quite fit the principle of work for all categories of users. For example, BetterSnapTool is too cumbersome and needs to be configured, while Magnet is too simple and lacks any additional features. Therefore, the search for an alternative led me to an interesting development - Window Tidy.
At its core, the app offers everything the competition does: sticking windows to specific parts of the screen. But unlike Magnet, it has some personalization settings, but not as tricky as BetterSnapTool. When using Window Tidy, everyone should be satisfied - those who do not want to be greatly distracted before "finishing" the application, and those who need at least some customization.
By default, we have only three window layout formats available, but we are free to add our own presets for more comfortable work. The fundamental difference in Window Tidy is that the active window needs to be dragged not to the edges of the screen, but to the icons that appear when dragging it, in which the future window arrangements are schematically indicated. For convenience, the icons themselves can be positioned horizontally or vertically, and the size of the windows can be set simply by selecting the squares divided into cells with the mouse.
In general, there is scope for action, but not much, and most importantly, it is clear. It will be extremely difficult to get confused. The only thing that can upset you is the price. For such a tiny utility that does not claim to be the “breakthrough of the year”, it is unambiguously expensive. However, if you like the idea, add it to the shopping list, perhaps take it with a discount.
