Switching to iOS from Android, I immediately started looking for a calorie calculator app. On the green robot, the wonderful Sandwich application served me faithfully, but on iOS there was not a single Russian-language application with such functionality. I was already desperate, but absolutely by chance I saw a link to the Diet Diary application, which, despite some shortcomings, is perhaps the best application for such tasks.

When you first enter the iPhone application, you will be immediately prompted to fill in basic information about yourself (weight, height, activity level, etc.). There are quite a few different parameters and you can customize the application individually for yourself. Also, the application itself will choose the optimal daily calorie diet for you based on the entered data.

After that, your daily food diary will be displayed on the main screen with various information. In addition to this, the main screen will display:

  • nutritional value of the diet
  • amount of water drunk
  • calorie consumption per workout

To add a new dish to the diet, you need to click on the plus sign in the lower right corner and select the product and its quantity. By choosing the size of the product, you immediately see the amount of consumed fats, carbohydrates and proteins, as well as the various units of measurement.

The main advantage of the application is a huge list of products in Russian, plus the ability to create your own products and dishes. When adding a new product, you will need to indicate its calorie content, select units of measurement (ounces, grams, kilograms) and indicate the nutritional value. All this you can find on the packaging of the product you need.

Perhaps someone will also like the fact that the application provides its own list of diets. But, here I would like to stop. Some diets here are solely for self-flagellation and do not benefit your body. I don't know who wants to sit on 1000 calories a day. Therefore, I advise you to think twice before starting such diets.

When you add meals, they will be underneath each other in your diary and you can always see all the details of each product. The only drawback in this is that the program records your dishes exactly at the time you entered them. That is, if you ate at 8 am, then at 10 am and only at 13:00 remembered that it was time to enter all this in your diary, the program will write down all these dishes at 13:00 and will not give you the opportunity to change it. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next version.

Also, the application is replete with other functions such as daily water consumption, various types of workouts, and so on, but as for me, this only overloads the interface and makes it difficult to focus on the main function that this program performs, namely, calorie counting.

Personally, I, not finding a better alternative, decided to stay on this application. Try it!
