Using the board for planning
Using the board for planning

Not so long ago, the first bell rang in schools, which means it's time to get out of summer hibernation. It's time to set new goals and achieve them. For planning purposes, I suggest you use a board. In the stationery store, you can find two types of whiteboards: magnetic marker and cork. Perhaps you will also be offered a classic chalk board, but this option does not seem convenient to me. Right in the store, you should buy colored buttons for the cork board, and for the magnetic marker, in addition to what is the name of the board, there is also an eraser sponge.

As you know, planning is tactical and strategic. If we are talking about individual plans, then tactical terms are from a week to a month, and strategic ones are from a month to a year. In the first case, it is better to take a magnetic marker board, and in the second - a cork board.

After the board is purchased, it needs to be hung. It is worth doing this so that from the workplace you can easily glance over her. The orientation of the board for individual planning is better to choose a portrait, and for teamwork or team planning - landscape.

Regardless of what board material you choose, it is worth fixing pictures on it, visualizing your values … These can be: photographs of your loved ones, an up arrow symbolizing personal growth, an image of a cozy house, and so on. This visualization will help to avoid the case when your goals / objectives are imposed on you.

Let's consider the use of each type of board separately.

Cork board

• The timing of the planning is long-term, so be sure to fix the pictures in the upper part for visualization purposes … Please do not confuse goals, albeit long-term ones, with values.

• In the middle part it is worth fixing calendars with events for this month, class schedule and similar planning and reference information.

• At the bottom, fasten task stickers, the execution of which will take several days. It is convenient to fix them on a cork board with buttons, and not just a sticky layer that always falls off at the most inopportune moment.

• Get yourself some darts. It's great to use them when you don't want to prioritize. By throwing a dart, you can determine what task to do now, or simply relieve stress.

Magnetic whiteboard

• The planning time is short-term, which means that at the top you need to indicate deadline date or the current period of time.

• The middle and lower part, as a rule, are multi-colored to-do list.

• In addition to the to-do list, it is easy to sketch with markers some kind of diagram that must be kept in front of your eyes. For example, the interaction of project participants.

• Considering that such a board is excellent for brainstorming, then perhaps it is worth making its mount not rigid, but easily removable.

Before you start using the whiteboard, you might want to practice on the virtual whiteboard. This can be found on this service.
