Ingredients

For 3 liters of wine:

  • 1¹⁄₂ kg of wine grapes (Lifehacker used isabella);
  • 2¹⁄₂ l of water;
  • 600 g of sugar.

For 20 liters of wine:

  • 10 kg of grapes;
  • 15 liters of water;
  • 4 kg of sugar.

Preparation

If you are sure that the grapes are clean, do not wash them: this will leave wine yeast on the berries. If unsure, rinse or dry with a wet towel instead.

Mash the grapes with your hands in an enamel bowl to release the juice. Then do the syrup. Pour water into a saucepan, add sugar and put on fire. Do not bring it to a boil, just wait for the sugar to dissolve.

Transfer the berry mixture to a glass bottle, fill with syrup, cover and put in a warm place for 21 days. If the room temperature is above 20 ° C, two weeks will be enough.

Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon every morning and evening. If you do not interfere, the pulp (the remnants of the berries) will turn sour and ruin the future wine.

After 21 days, strain the wine and leave in a cool place for a week. This is necessary for the yeast to settle.

After a week, you will see a whitish sediment at the bottom. Using a hose or funnel, pour the wine into bottles or cans without touching the sediment.

Then place the wine in a cool dark place for 6-12 months. The longer the wine stands, the richer its taste will be.
