A properly made custard can be used not only for making Napoleon cake, but for many other sweets as well. You can also dip cookies into it or eat with pancakes.

Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks;
  • 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar;
  • 1 liter of warm milk.

Preparation

Beat the egg yolks with a whisk, add the icing sugar. Beat the mixture vigorously until it turns white. While stirring the mixture, pour the milk into it.

Pour everything into a saucepan and, while stirring, cook over the lowest heat until thickened. Make sure that the cream does not overheat, otherwise the yolks will turn into scrambled eggs.

The finished cream should cover the spoon with a thin layer, without dripping from it, regardless of what position (vertical or horizontal) it is in.

There are other recipes for custard: with flour, butter, starch. However, they turn out to be less light and tasty, thicker, more difficult to prepare and easier to spoil.

The cream prepared according to this recipe is suitable for all sweet dishes and also as a sweet sauce.
