8 tips for choosing Christmas tree decorations

How to properly dress up your Christmas tree and at the same time not harm yourself and others? What are the principles for choosing New Year's toys and what is worth / not worth buying - we will talk about this with you.

1. Try to take less breakable toys

If you have cats, small children, or both, try to have fewer breakable toys on your tree. Or, at the very least, hang these glass balls and figurines higher so that your child or pet doesn't get to them. In general, glass toys are stored much less than plush, plastic or polymer clay products. If you choose glass balls for the Christmas tree, use a small amount of large ones for the overall effect, and mostly decorate the Christmas tree with smaller toys made from less fragile materials.

2. Pay attention to the painting and the presence of a "chemical" smell

"Rain", Christmas balls, figurines and garlands should not emit a pungent smell, paint from surfaces should not cling to hands, glitter from the sides should not crumble or stick. In addition, high-quality glass balls are coated with a silver coating from the inside, not the outside. The persistent scent of "chemistry" and hands that look like a chameleon after contact with toys are a sure sign that there is no room for such Christmas decorations on your tree. Unless you want to get allergies or chemical poisoning.

3. Check hinges and fasteners

Poor fastening and fragile clamps can cause a fire to break out from a fallen garland with bulbs, and at the slightest touch to the tree, glass toys fall down and break. Unfortunately, many unnamed Chinese brands, which are littered with stalls and supermarkets on the eve of the New Year, are not very careful in the selection of fasteners and loops for balls, figurines, electric garlands.

4. Choose garlands and lanterns not only on the basis of the "beautiful / ugly" principle

5. Avoid fusible materials

Do not overdo it with "rain" and other flammable decorations if you use candles, garlands of lamps, or decorative lighting as decorations for the tree and the room in which the tree itself is located. Most of the fires and fires on New Year's holidays are associated with improper placement of fusible decorations in rooms and houses - next to electrical appliances, light garlands and heating systems.

6. Don't forget about "eco-toys"

Toys made from environmentally friendly materials are more expensive, but you will surely know that your child will not get chemical poisoning by “talking” with New Year's decorations during the celebration or preparation for the New Year.

7. Make some of the jewelry with your own hands

Applique paper, polymer clay, colored cardboard and decorative materials are sold both in online stores and in offline retail outlets. Give your child (and yourself) the joy of making toys, garlands, figurines and other decorations with your own hands: this will add a good touch to the preparation for the holidays and add warm memories.
