In 2018, there will be several working Saturdays at once, the New Year holidays will be shortened by two days, and the rest of the holidays will become longer.
Why postpone weekends and holidays
In 2018, several holidays fall in the middle of the week at once: Thursday 8 March, Tuesday 1 May, Tuesday 12 June.
Holidays are diluted with working days, so you won't plan any trips, camping trips with an overnight stay or visiting guests. Moreover, a working day surrounded by a weekend is unlikely to be productive.
To remedy this situation, the government adopted the Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation dated October 14, 2017 No. 1250 "On the transfer of weekends in 2018" "On the transfer of weekends in 2018".
How the holidays are carried over in 2018
Since the holidays of January 6 and 7 fall on Saturday and Sunday, the weekend has been postponed to other dates. Due to Saturday, January 6, we will rest on Friday March 9, which means that the celebration of March 8 will stretch for four days.
The day off from Sunday, January 7, was moved to Wednesday, May 2, and from Saturday, April 28, to Monday, April 30. As a result, we will rest from April 29 to May 2.
The weekend from Saturday June 9 was moved to Monday June 11 so that we could rest for three days in a row: from June 10 to June 12.
Monday December 31st promised to be the most unproductive work day of the year, so it was made a day off. Now you have to work on Saturday, December 29, but then you can go on a long New Year's holidays.
How many days do we rest
According to the government decree, in 2018 there will be 28 days off, combined with holidays:
- from January 1 to January 8 (we will start resting from December 30, 2017);
- from 23 to 25 February;
- from 8 to 11 March;
- from April 29 to May 2;
- 9th May;
- June 10-12;
- from 3 to 5 November;
- December 30 and 31.
How many days the New Year holidays will last in 2019 is still unknown.
