3 albums worth listening to separately

Like A Prayer (1989)

Madonna's first really important album, marking her transition from the category of representatives of youth pop music to the number of serious artists. Here, for the first time, she touches upon the themes of family, religion and personal relationships. And also one of Madonna's first scandals is connected with Like A Prayer. It was because of the burning crosses and other borrowing of Christian images in the video for the song of the same name that she was criticized by believers.

Like A Prayer entered many ratings of the best albums of our time, and Rolling Stone called it "as close to art as a pop album can be." For all her newfound seriousness, Madonna of the late 80s did not lose her glibness. Dancing to the album is no less pleasant than thinking about its difficult background.

Ray of Light (1998)

And this release is considered to be the second most important release in Madonna's discography after Like A Prayer. If we call the album of the late 80s an adult, then Ray of Light is more mature. In 1998 Madonna turns 40, now she is a mother and a person deeply interested in Eastern religious movements and spiritual practices. Hence, the mood of Ray of Light, created in alliance with producer William Orbit, is relaxed and deeply lyrical again. Actually, some of Madonna's best slow compositions - The Frozen and Power Of Good-Bye - are just from here. And again, there was a scandal: the singer Linda threatened to file a plagiarism lawsuit because of the video clip Frozen, reminiscent of her "Crow".

Ray of Light is Madonna's most successful commercial recording of the 90s and one of the most conceptual in the entire discography. A serious step aside, comprehension of new themes, beautiful melodies, voice and, of course, the production work of William Orbit - somehow one of the best pop albums of the decade turned out to be.

Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005)

Another concept album that looks more like a DJ set. These are 12 almost club tracks, recorded not without the influence of 70s disco and 80s synths. The release opens with Hung Up - the same track with ABBA's sample that you've probably heard.

In Confessions on a Dance Floor, Madonna does not share her secret, does not fight for the emancipation of women, and does not denounce American society. She just throws a cool party and invites everyone to dance.
