Why you shouldn't blame anywhere

The economies of the countries of the former USSR are in a deplorable state today. Prices are rising, enterprises are being closed, and budgetary expenditures are being cut. All this prompts many to think about moving to other countries for permanent residence. And I think that this is not worth doing. And I can explain why.

Why you shouldn't blame anywhere
Why you shouldn't blame anywhere

Cost of living

Despite the rise in prices, today the cost of living in Russia or Ukraine is much lower than, say, in Italy. Only utility bills in Europe cover the monthly expenses of the average Russian citizen. Public transport is also 10 times cheaper than, for example, in Germany.

With products, everything is a little more interesting. If the prices for European products are practically equal to Russian and Ukrainian, then their quality differs significantly. And, surprisingly, not in favor of the European ones. For example, Ukrainian milk is really much tastier than European milk. Naturally, I'm now talking about store products, not rural ones.

Lost in translation

In order to live in another country, you have to learn a foreign language. For the everyday level, you will need at least six months of language learning. For understanding all the subtleties in financial and government institutions - even more. And all this is sometimes very difficult.

Whatever the level of proficiency in a foreign language, the native language remains native.

English, German, Spanish or any other language will never become "like a mother tongue" for you. After a long stay in another country among people who speak a foreign language, you will be happy to look for a place where you can enjoy the sounds of your native speech.

Parents and friends

Having left for another country, you lose friends and acquaintances. Yes, you can continue to communicate with them through social networks and various messengers. But that's not it. You won't be able to call your friend Mishka and invite him for a beer on Saturday night. You will not be able to get together with a large group of old friends to play board games.

Also, your relatives and parents will stay in your homeland. Unless, of course, you have the opportunity to take them with you. Especially you will miss your parents. Skype cannot replace live communication and the opportunity to hug your mother.

Everything around is dear

You grew up here. Here you went to kindergarten, then to school, to the university and got your first job. You know how everything works here. You know what to do and how to do it. You know the important laws of your state and you know what you can't and what you can do.

You already have or will have children, and you will need to send them to kindergarten, school and university. And here, in your homeland, you know what needs to be done for this. But in other countries you will have to get to know everything for the first time. You will not know what is good and what is bad. You have to step on a thousand rakes.

In a foreign country, you will always be a stranger. It doesn't matter how many migrants live in this country. The feeling that you are not at ease will never leave you. And remember: a crisis is a unique time of unique opportunities.
