Aquaman

  • Original title: Aquaman.
  • Director: James Wang
  • Cast: Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson.

The son of the lighthouse keeper, Arthur Curry, from childhood showed supernatural abilities: he could breathe under water and communicate with fish. He later learned that his mother was the queen of Atlantis in exile and he was destined to become the ruler of the seven seas. Now the superhero Aquaman must find Poseidon's trident, take the throne of the King of Atlantis and prevent a war between the inhabitants of the land and the underwater inhabitants.

Following the success of Wonder Woman, MCU executives seem to have decided to change direction and are now recruiting original directors to develop solo character films. Horror master James Wang did a pretty good job. Still, it is noticeable that he is much better able to create a tense atmosphere in the semi-darkness. His vivid scenes and humor turn out a little worse.

Aquaman has the same feeling as the films of the first phase of the MCU. This is a very simple but exciting story about a hero trying to find himself. Those who love typical comics with beautiful special effects will definitely love it.

Spider-Man: Through the Universes

  • Original title: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
  • Directors: Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsay, Rodney Rothman.
  • Cast: Shameik Moore, Jake Johnson, Hayley Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali.

Teenager Miles Morales witnesses how the villain Kingpin uses a collider to open a portal to other dimensions. And now only Miles can save the world from destruction. Immediately he is bitten by a radioactive spider, and the guy gets super powers. But, alas, he does not know how to handle them at all. Then spiders from other dimensions come to the rescue: lazy Peter B. Parker, Gwen Stacy, noir Spider-Man, anime Penny Parker and even Spider-Pig.

Against the background of constant relaunches of Spider-Man, the authors of the cartoon managed to do something really bright and memorable. They took a more recent hero, putting Miles Morales, not Peter Parker, at the center of the plot, and even added a whole collection of unusual characters from the spider universe to him. As a result, a dynamic, witty and vivid cartoon came out. In addition, excellent animation sometimes makes you forget that it is not a feature film in front of your eyes.

"Spider-Man: Through the Universes" will be interesting both for geeks who will find dozens of references to comics and old films, and for beginners, because this story does not require a preliminary study of primary sources. The cartoon will appeal to both adults and children - there is enough brightness and humor for everyone.

Bumblebee

  • Original title: Bumblebee.
  • Director: Travis Knight
  • Cast: Dylan O'Brien, Haley Steinfeld, Justin Theroux, John Cena.

In the 80s, Bumblebee, who has lost his memory, hides from the pursuing Decepticons in a car dump, pretending to be an old Volkswagen Beetle. He is picked up by 18-year-old girl Charlie. This becomes the beginning of true friendship.

After the fifth part of the Transformers franchise, where an insane plot with time travels coexisted with furious special effects, it became clear to the authors that it was time to restart the story. And Bumblebee is a great way to forget about what was in the movie series before. The aspiring director was clearly inspired by simple and kind films like Steven Spielberg's "Alien". The plot is simple, and the characters are sincere and naive, but it all looks very charming.

In "Bumblebee" there are almost no large-scale battles and globality. It's just cute fantasy, as if it came from the 80s. The humor in the film is rather childish, and for adults they added several references to classic cartoons and retro soundtracks.

The grinch

  • Original title: The Grinch.
  • Directors: Yarrow Cheney, Scott Mouger.
  • Cast: Benedict Cumberbatch, Cameron Seeley, Rashida Jones.

The Grinch lives at the very top of the mountain and loves silence most of all. However, everyone around him is getting ready to celebrate Christmas, which annoys him wildly. And so the Grinch decides to steal jewelry and gifts from people and ruin the holiday.

There is no need to talk about the plot of this cartoon. This is another adaptation of the classic story that everyone knows from books, cartoons or a picture with Jim Carrey. But nothing new is expected from the Grinch, the main thing here is a bright picture and simple jokes. And the new version copes with these parameters perfectly. It is enough to watch the trailer to fall in love with the main villain. Unfortunately, in the Russian voice acting you cannot hear the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch, but there is a feeling that the mimicry of the hero was copied from him.

It is imperative to bring children to "Grinch", and adults will not hurt to feel the spirit of the upcoming holidays and just laugh at the adventures of the characters.

Petson and Findus - 2. Best Christmas Ever

  • Original title: Pettersson und Findus 2 - Das schönste Weihnachten überhaupt.
  • Director: Ali Samadi Ahadi.
  • Cast: Ali Samadi Ahadi, Ali N. Askin.

Old Petson and his friend Findus the cat live together on the outskirts of the village. Petson decided to arrange the best Christmas for his pet, but he injured his leg and is now in bed. Then Findus decides to organize the holiday himself. But, of course, he does not succeed right away.

This film is a continuation of the 2014 film Petson and Findus. Little tormentor - big friendship”and the next film adaptation of the book series by Swedish writer Sven Nordqvist. And for those who are very fond of original books or once enjoyed the first film, it is worth watching. The rest should be guided by the trailer - so outdated animation can be confusing.

"Petson and Findus" is a simple and kind story about friendship and mutual assistance. But still, the cheap visuals get in the way of the atmosphere too. The same "Grinch" will leave more impressions.

Why are we creative?

  • Original title: Why Are We Creative: The Centipede's Dilemma.
  • Director: Herman Vaske.
  • Cast: David Bowie, Jim Jarmusch, Stephen Hawking.

Documentary filmmaker Hermann Vaske has traveled around the world for 30 years. He met with famous scientists, musicians, painters, politicians and filmmakers. And each time Vaske tried to understand the nature of creativity and the reasons that push people to create something new.

This picture is not a business training with a promise to lead to success in an hour and a half, but a collection of opinions from famous people, which Vaske added with his thoughts and animation inserts. But this is a rare opportunity to see and hear over a hundred celebrities - from David Bowie to Stephen Hawking - and at the same time to think about the main question of a creative person.

"Why are we creative?" it is not necessary to watch in the cinema. There are no spectacular footage here, so we can wait for the digital release. But this film is definitely worth watching, because it reveals a little better the nature of creativity and personality of many creators of the new era.

I will want and jump off. Superheroes

  • Original title: Smetto quando voglio: Ad honorem.
  • Director: Sydney Sibilia.
  • Cast: Edoardo Leo, Valerio Epri, Paolo Calabresi.

Scientist Pietro Zinni went to prison for the production of legal drugs. His accomplices are also awaiting sentencing. But when they find out about a possible terrorist attack in Rome, the whole company decides to flee and prevent the disaster.

"I Want and Jump" seems to be turning into a series, because this is the third part of the Italian franchise. And, strictly speaking, the authors are not going to show anything new in it. Exactly the same characters, the same jokes, the same funny situations. All this has already happened in the first two parts and is repeated in a circle in the continuation.

Those who liked the first two pictures from this series can see the third one. She will not disappoint, although she will not offer anything new. And those who are not familiar with the franchise probably shouldn't start anymore.

Crystal

  • Director: Daria Zhuk.
  • Cast: Alina Nasibullina, Ivan Mulin, Yuri Borisov.

The girl Vela dreams of leaving Minsk for the USA and becoming a DJ there. She has already applied for a visa, but indicated someone else's phone number in the false certificate from work. And now she needs to go to a small village where a family lives, who will be called from the American embassy.

Darya Zhuk's film on the plot came out almost universal. On the one hand, this is one hundred percent history from the 90s, and the entire entourage of the picture is chosen in such a way that those who grew up in this era will surely recognize familiar carpets, telephones and crystal. On the other hand, the film shows the fate of a dreamer who wants to escape from the gray everyday life, and this is still relevant.

But all the same, "Khrustal" will appeal primarily to those who wish to remember the life of the post-Soviet space. The trailer shows the atmosphere and the plot of the plot, so you can focus on it.
