1. Pompeya

The absence of this group in the previous collection was rightly mentioned by the readers: indeed, speaking of high-quality Russian music, one cannot but mention the Moscow band Pompeya.

According to the band members, their music is inspired by 70s disco, 80s pop and 90s indie. In the light summer songs of the group, one way or another, echoes of these styles are heard, seasoned with funky guitars and elements of modern popular music.

2.kedr livanskiy

Project of a young girl from Moscow Yana Kedrina. Many styles are intertwined in the music of kedr livanskiy, from which the songs are often attributed to the genre of "mystical electronics", without going into a thorough analysis of directions. Some of the compositions resemble the works of Grimes, but upon closer examination it becomes clear that kedr livanskiy is an original project, proving that interesting music with talent can be created within the boundaries of your room.

3. Kurara

A group founded in Yekaterinburg in 2004. Some songs became quite popular, some of them were still in the rotation of radio stations. Now "Kurara" has disappeared from the radars of the media and music TV channels, which does not prevent the group from successfully touring and replenishing its audience.

"Kurara" - independent music with guitars and synthesizers with lyrics in Russian. The group's work belongs to different genres - from Russian rock to experimental electronics - but each of the definitions of the style is far from exhaustive. One of the band's calling cards is the 2012 song "Kurara Chibana"; Katya Pavlova, vocalist of the Yekaterinburg group "Obe Dve", also took part in its recording.

4. Parks, Squares and Alleys

One-man-project of a musician from Khabarovsk Sergey Khavro. The indie pop of "Parks, Squares and Alleys" smacks of naivety, and the instruments in the songs are not recorded flawlessly. However, fans see this only as a plus, because creating a perfect "sleek" sound is much easier than a pleasant-sounding lo-fi.

5. Morning

A side project of the Motorama group, which Lifehacker wrote about in the previous collection. Unlike the English-speaking hypostasis of the collective, the music and aesthetics of "Utra" originates from the old Russian history. The use of pagan symbols in the design, the appropriate lyrics and non-trivial post-punk with the recognizable vocals of Vlad Parshin make the music of the Rostov group repulsive for lovers of light music and mystically attractive for connoisseurs of experimental.

6. Therr Maitz

Almost all the bands presented in the Lifehacker's collections can be roughly divided into two categories: original projects that appeal to the heritage of Russian music, and bands whose ideas and sound correspond to Western standards. The second category includes Therr Maitz, an indie group founded by Anton Belyaev, a participant in the Voice project. Winner of the MTV Music Awards in 2016 and the title of the best collective of the Russian iTunes in 2015, the Moscow project reflects the features of modern independent pop music in its work.

7. ВΣ

ВΣ (reads as "In Sigma") is a hip-hop group of former members of "Cops on Fire" - a sensational musical and theatrical project that thundered in 2009-2012.

In the new project of Archangi, Supersonyc and Kotzi Brown, the listener will have another hooligan experiment, as always accompanied by ironic lyrics and their own updated slang. Yuri Bardash, better known from the group "Mushrooms", took part in one of the tracks of the last BΣ album - "The River".

8. Lapti

Lapti is a project of a Moscow beatmaker whose music you don't want to sign with a mean definition of the retrowave genre. The musician takes the sound of the 80s, 90s and 2000s as a basis and, surgically accurately, according to the annotations to the performances, adds bright synthetic sounds to them, making the old sound in a new way. The video works in the Lapti VKontakte community are perhaps too experimental, so we decided to show an amateur video for the romantic track First Date.

9. Chernikovskaya Hata

Cover bands rarely become well-known independent bands, and, as a rule, they do not stand out from dozens of similar bands with a similar repertoire of restaurant hits. But this rule does not apply to the Chernikovskaya Hata group, which rethinks the heritage of the Russian pop art of the last century.

The Ufa collective plays post-punk arrangements of Soviet and Russian pop songs, getting something completely new at the output. The minor mode of most domestic hits allows you to organically integrate it into the tradition of a completely non-pop sound, and the songs themselves retain familiar and familiar motives from childhood. Young people like it.

10. Date

A group from Moscow playing light music about love. Despite the fact that the members of the group are far from 16, they manage to create a convincing musical accompaniment to the romantic feelings of boys and girls. Their songs are not difficult, they can be easily played by an amateur guitarist, and chords with lyrics are posted by the participants of "Date" in their public "VKontakte".
