Cloud storage like Dropbox or Google Drive can be used to access important files across devices. But the problem of data confidentiality is becoming more and more urgent every day. Therefore, it would be great to sync files between computers and phones directly, rather than through third-party servers.
On the same network, the open source Syncthing does an excellent job of doing this. It has clients for both desktop and mobile operating systems, so you can easily download data from your smartphone to your PC and vice versa. The main thing is to be patient and set it all up.
First, go to the Syncthing website and download the programs for the platforms you want. Official apps for Windows and Android are available, as well as a ton of unofficial clients for other operating systems.
Let's say you want to sync files between your Windows 10 computer and your Android smartphone. In the PC client, click the Add Remote Device button. Enter the phone ID that should appear below the appropriate line. If not, look for the ID in the app on your phone. Then give the device a name and save the changes.
Now repeat the same on your smartphone. When done, click "Add Folder" on the device you want to sync files from. Select a folder, give it a name and specify from which devices you can access it. For convenience, you can create a special folder with all the files that may be useful on different systems.
After that, the files will start automatically synchronizing between the selected gadgets.
