There are never too many sauces. They can complement, emphasize or completely change the taste of the whole dish or its individual components. The sour cream-based sauces, which we will talk about in this article, will become the center of the buffet table, conveniently located among a mountain of chips, or make you eat all the fresh vegetables at once, as they are convenient to use as dips and salad dressings.
Caramelized Onion Sauce
Ingredients:
- 2 onions;
- 25 ml of vegetable oil;
- 80 g sour cream;
- 120 g cream cheese;
- salt pepper.
This recipe will take more of your time due to the fact that it is based on onions, which must be caramelized before adding.
Cut the onion into half rings and fry in hot vegetable oil until transparent. Then reduce heat and let the onion sit on the stove for 20-25 minutes, or until it becomes sticky and caramelized. Watch the onion and stir constantly, add a little water if necessary so that it does not burn.
Whisk cream cheese and sour cream, add salt and pepper to taste and mix everything with caramelized onions.
The sauce is ideal as a dip for chips and croutons.
Spicy Mexican Sauce
Ingredients:
- 180 g sour cream;
- 1 tablespoon of parsley and dill;
- ½ teaspoon dried onions;
- ½ teaspoon dried garlic;
- a pinch of chili flakes;
- hot sauce to taste;
- 35 g of hard cheese.
Chop the herbs and grate the cheese. Mix all the ingredients from the list.
Season the sauce to taste.
Serve with tortilla chips, sandwiches, pita rolls and tacos.
Ranch sauce
Ingredients:
- 115 g sour cream;
- 60 ml of kefir;
- 45 g mayonnaise;
- lemon juice - to taste;
- 1 clove of garlic;
- dill and parsley to taste.
Chop the herbs and pass the garlic through a press. Mix all the ingredients from the list.
Season to taste. If the consistency seems too thin to you, add a small portion of sour cream or mayonnaise to the mixture. To reduce the fat content, mayonnaise can be completely excluded from the recipe.
Serve with vegetables or use as a light salad dressing.
