In continuation of my post about the usefulness of keeping a personal diary, let me tell you about the tools for keeping this very diary. I will briefly describe the solution and also briefly list its pros and cons to save your time.
Notebook and pen
A notebook made of good paper and a fountain pen - every note will be a true delight for you.
+ You don't need any internet, a diary can be kept even in the post-nuclear period.
– You cannot search in such a diary and make the necessary selections by names and events.
– You will not have a backup of your diary.

The application that I used. Very high quality and seems to be the best solution for phone use only.
+ Has sorting by place, name, event and tag.
+ He knows how to pull events from social networks facebook, twitter, foursquare, instagram and others.
+ Recordings can be accompanied by photographs and videos.
– I would really like a desktop client or at least a web service.
Day one
Divinely beautiful app for residents of Apple platforms.
+ Cloud sync via Dropbox.
+ Availability of the program on Mac, applications for iPhone and iPad.
+ A system of reminders to make an appointment.
– Minimum features - in fact, you get a glamorous version of a notebook that does not even support tags, although the developer promises them on his blog.

A very fancy Windows-only program.
+ The program can save photos, documents, spreadsheets.
+ Plugin support.
– Lack of cloud sync and mobile clients.
– A very expensive bloatware program.

Microsoft OneNote
Office integrated recording solution. Not sharpened for use as a diary, but this is how many people use it.
+ Modern interface and nice features.
+ Multiplatform: Windows version, web version, apps for Mac, iOS, Windows Phone, Android.
– The program is overloaded with functions.
Price: Included with Windows 10 and pre-installed on Windows Phone devices
Evernote
It is a universal repository of any digital information.
+ The absolute leader in the number of supported platforms: Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Palm Pre and Pixi, Blackberry.
+ Integrated into many web services and programs.
+ Can even receive notes by e-mail.
– Desktop and mobile apps are very cumbersome, and this is often the reason Evernote fails.
– There is no imprisonment for keeping a diary.
Price: there are pro versions
Mémoires
The program for Mac from the domestic developer Dmitry Chestnykh.
+ The program is convenient for creating notes with photographs, handwritten pictures.
+ Diary encryption support.
– There is no support for tagging and tagging people and places.
– High price.
