Amazfit GTS: according to the precepts of Apple
Amazfit GTS is sold in six colors: black, gold, gray, blue, pink and red. In almost all versions, the shade changes not only on the strap, but also on the case. Black Amazfit GTS came to the editorial office.
There is a crown on the right side. Alas, this is just a button that is spinning idle. It is responsible for returning to the initial dial or entering the training mode by long press (this function can be reassigned).
The body is made of aluminum and plastic. The straps are replaceable, fastened with a classic buckle and fastened with two clips - we saw a similar mechanism, for example, on the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2.
The bracelet is elastic, and the watch is quite light - it is comfortable to wear. For several days of using the device, only one problem arose: the body moves freely along the wrist and touches the sleeves. You can tighten the strap tighter, but then it will not be so comfortable.
The Amazfit GTS has an AMOLED screen with a resolution of 348 × 442 pixels and a diagonal of 1.65 inches. It seems that the developers could have made the display larger, but the interface and most of the dials hide this flaw. You can get upset because of the thick frames, unless you turn on the "Flashlight" mode.
The Amazfit GTS display has an excellent pixel density and a sufficient margin of brightness: the image on the screen is detailed when using most watch faces and is easy to read even in the sun. The display turns off when you press the crown or independently after a set time.
There are many watch faces, they are available in the Amazfit app. A variant with a nice and unpretentious animation could not be found. Most dials are static, while some have hands moving at a minimum frame rate.
The watch faces differ in the sets of widgets. The one below, for example, displays weather data, date, device charge level, number of steps taken and heart rate.
By holding your finger on the screen, you can switch between the three watch faces. By default, Amazfit GTS has options with a bunch of widgets: they show not only the time, but also the activity and weather indicators.
Amazfit GTS partially repeats the design of the fourth and fifth generation Apple Watch. And we also saw the Infograph watch face on watchOS.
However, it is wrong to seriously compare these watch models: they are simply from different weight categories. External borrowings are perceived here without irritation. Perhaps Apple fans will only be happy to purchase such a gadget without overpaying for features that they may not need.
Amazfit GTR: for lovers of the classics
And this is an option for those who want a gadget with a technological filling and the usual look of a mechanical watch. From them Amazfit GTR took a round dial, a metal case and a traditional bezel with divisions.
This model has many modifications. In addition to colors, they differ in materials: there are aluminum, steel and titanium watches on sale. There are also two sizes to choose from: 42 and 47 mm. We got a smaller version made of aluminum alloy and with a red strap.
The strap from our kit does not suit a serious case. You want to wear such a watch with a leather one, like the big Amazfit GTR.
On the right side there are two buttons: one of them is responsible for locking the screen and the action "Back", the other - for the transition to workouts. And each of them can spin uselessly.
The 42-mm version received a 1.2-inch screen. Large - with a diagonal of 1.65 inches. The display is made using AMOLED technology and is located deep under the glass.
The Amazfit GTR has support for the Always On Display mode, but with only two dial options - digital and arrow. The second looks pretty good.
A large set of watch faces is available in the app. There are much fewer cute and interesting options here than in the Amazfit GTS - the limitations of the round screen affect.
Amazfit GTR and Amazfit GTS cost about the same and have a similar feature set. The main difference is design. And if the GTS is suitable for those who do not want to overpay for the Apple Watch, then the GTR will appeal to conservatives who need a gadget to match a formal suit. However, for this you still have to purchase a version with a leather strap or buy it separately.
Amazfit smartwatch capabilities
Side swipes on Amazfit GTR and Amazfit GTS reveal activity and heart rate data. Tapping on the respective screens displays a graph of heart rate, steps and kilometers traveled, and calories burned.
More detailed data is presented in the Amazfit app. There you can also start a GPS workout or view your sleep statistics.
During testing, it turned out that the sensors may malfunction a little. For example, the sleep report did not include a couple of short awakenings.
With a swipe from the bottom, you can go to old notifications, weather, vibration alarm and settings. New notifications appear on the screen immediately and cannot be answered.
The Amazfit display shows notifications of incoming calls, but there is no microphone here - you still have to get a smartphone to answer. But from the clock you can control music playback.
The devices cope with the functions of a fitness tracker: analyze data during training and provide a detailed report. There are few types of exercise, but the most common are walking, running, cycling and swimming. You can take Amazfit into the pool without fear: the 5 ATM protection class allows you to dive to a depth of 50 m.
All the features mentioned do not stop Amazfit from living for weeks. During the time that we used them, none of the models was discharged. We did not activate GPS, but turned on automatic heart rate detection and diligently tested the watch in different scenarios. During the day, the charge of the GTS dropped by about 10%, the GTR - by 20%. The manufacturer claims that with moderate use, the GTS will last 14 days, and the 42mm GTR version will last 12 days on a single charge.

Amazfit GTS is an affordable option for those who want to wear something like an Apple Watch on their wrist, but are not going to overpay for the brand and some of the functions. At the same time, it is still impossible to call them a full-fledged alternative. You don't want to use this watch just like that, for example, aimlessly turning the wheel, or experimenting with dials to find out how this or that design will look on the screen. Amazfit GTS is a utility gadget with an affordable price, which is needed to replace a smartphone in some scenarios, as well as monitor activity.
The Amazfit GTR is a variant of the classic watch with the same features and slightly less cute dials.
Both models cost about 10,000 rubles, prices in different stores may differ.
