Early check-in and late check-out

The hotel lives according to a certain schedule. Guests are most often moved in at 14:00, and evicted at 12, but the time may be different. This is done so that the staff can clean the room before the next guest arrives.

Accordingly, if you want to check out later than checkout time, they will not be able to bring in a new client and the hotel will lose money. Or the staff will have to clean up later. Be that as it may, breaking the schedule is an inconvenience, and you have to pay for the inconvenience.

No show

If you booked a room and did not arrive, events can develop in two ways:

In case of non-guaranteed booking, you are expected until a certain hour, and then the order will be canceled.
With a guaranteed reservation, you are waiting for a day. If you do not come, you have the right to withhold the payment for the day of stay. This is compensation for room downtime.

If you book a hotel through a service like Booking, you may be subject to additional restrictions. For example, often beneficial offers are irrevocable, even when it comes to a Russian hotel. However, by law, you can only be charged for services rendered. Therefore, you can compete for money. The courts in these cases take the side of the consumer.

Accommodation for one more person

If you book a double room for one guest, it often comes out cheaper. This does not mean that you can then come there together and save money. You will have to pay extra for the accommodation of the second (third and so on) person.

Additional services

Each hotel compiles a list of such services independently. Usually it is decorated in the form of a booklet and is in your room. For example, for a separate amount, you can ask to change your towels out of schedule or use the local iron, safe in the room.

The hotel has no right to provide paid services without your consent.

So that there are no surprises, it is better to find in advance on the website of the hotel or the intermediary through which you book a room, what you are entitled to without additional money and what not.

Here are the services you should definitely not be charged for:

call an ambulance and other special services;
give a first aid kit;
deliver the correspondence that came to you;
wake up at the agreed time;
give out boiling water, one set of dishes, needles, threads.

Minibar content

This is also an additional service, but we need to talk about it separately. A common hotel trick is to lure you in with pretty tiny bottles to provoke you to spend more. Sometimes hotels bring snacks and drinks as a compliment. But it's better to treat the contents of mini-refrigerators as paid by default if you want to avoid additional expenses.

Usually the prices are indicated in the information booklet, or the price list is on the refrigerator.

Damage to property

The logical point: if you spoil something, they will take compensation from you. The exact size is most likely written in the same booklet with a list of additional services.

Sometimes hotels do not wait for the check-out day, but take a deposit from you upon check-in. If the room is in good condition, the money will be returned.

Location

In Russia, as part of an experiment, guests of some settlements of the Altai, Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories are charged a resort fee. In Crimea, the innovation has been postponed until May 1, 2021. We are talking about an amount of up to 100 rubles per day of stay.

The money will be taken from you at the hotel, but it will go to the budget. Make sure that you are given the appropriate receipt.
