The gadget is very similar to the Apple Watch, but it lasts much longer without recharging.

Amazfit GTS 2 is a new smartwatch model, which is positioned as a top-end device. Compared to the first version, the gadget has not changed much in appearance, but there are many improvements in terms of functions. The accessory has become more independent from the smartphone, and this is its main advantage.

Design

The Amazfit GTS series watches were clearly designed with an Apple Watch in mind. It was noticeable in the first model of the line, and it was noticeable in the second.

At the same time, the GTS 2 model is more elegant and stylish. It received a metal body with matte ends and a bright AMOLED display with 2, 5D glass. The reverse side is glossy, there are sensors and two magnetic connectors for charging.

Silicone strap with a classic buckle and two trainers. Spring mounts allow you to replace it with any other of the same width (20 mm), such as leather. There is only one mechanical button on the side of the watch. It recognizes single and double clicks.

Screen

The watch received an AMOLED screen with a diagonal of 1.65 inches and rounded corners. The resolution is quite high - 348 × 442 pixels. The density of 341 PPI provides a very clear picture.

Compared to the first version of the watch, the display frame has not become narrower, although with most dials it is completely invisible thanks to the black background.

In total, about 50 dials are available to the user. Some of them show that the Amazfit designers were inspired by Apple's watchOS solutions, but this is more likely even a plus.

The brightness margin of the screen is large, and due to the ambient light sensor, the backlight intensity can be changed automatically. This is especially convenient outdoors in direct sunlight: the display becomes noticeably brighter and remains legible.

Functions

The main difference between the Amazfit GTS 2 and most of the other watches of the brand is the speaker at the end on the left and microphones on the upper edge right under the strap. Thanks to them, the device receives calls from a smartphone. This is especially convenient when driving. You can be heard well, as well as the interlocutor, you do not need to raise your voice.

The second interesting feature of the watch is the ability to play music without a smartphone. True, only 3 GB of memory is provided for this. Tracks are downloaded through the Zepp app, they can be output both to the speaker of the accessory and to paired wireless headphones that connect directly to the watch through the settings.

You can also control the music that is played on the smartphone from memory or streaming service.

Another watch feature is the blood oxygen level sensor. In the context of the coronavirus pandemic, it is especially useful, but you should not completely rely on its data. The watch is not a medical device and is only suitable for assessing dynamics.

Otherwise, in terms of its capabilities, the gadget does not differ much from the previous version of GTS. The watch offers 12 sports modes, PAI activity analysis system, heart rate measurement, stress assessment, navigation, weather, new event notifications, reminders and an alarm. To access all the features, just go to the main menu by pressing the side button.

To switch to notifications from your smartphone on your watch, you just need to swipe up from the watch face, and swipe down opens the quick settings shutter. Swiping left and right to change the main watch cards, which show indicators of physical activity, weather and other data. To get more information on each of them, swipe up from the card.

Overall, the interface is very smooth and responsive, but the manufacturer still has some work to do. Cards sometimes do not scroll completely, which forces you to make an additional swipe. Surely this will be fixed with a firmware update.

Application

For pairing with smartphones, the Zepp service is used. It provides all activity and sleep statistics, as well as a watch face store and customization of integrated gadgets. For example, you can add an event to the schedule to receive an alert on your watch, or send music tracks to an accessory for offline listening.

Also in Zepp you can create a vibration pattern for each type of information. Choose an alternation of long and short signals for calls, messages or warm-up reminders so that you can understand what kind of notification came without even looking at the screen.

Screen brightness, sound, lock can be configured both from the Zepp app and directly from the watch. This applies to many functions, and this is the great advantage of the GTS 2 model: the device has become more independent.

Autonomy

The accessory received a 246 mAh battery. The manufacturer promises seven days of active use or 20 days in battery saving mode. In reality, everything is so: with regular heart rate measurement (every 30 minutes) and activation of the screen by raising the wrist, Amazfit GTS 2 worked without recharging for eight days. This is a good result for a gadget with a high-quality AMOLED display.

A two-pin magnetic connector on the back of the device is used for charging. The supplied cable is long enough. There is no adapter in the box, but any adapter with a USB connector will do.

Outcomes

Amazfit GTS 2 makes a very good impression. For Huami, this is a step forward: the watch has an excellent design, a high-quality screen, a user-friendly interface and a decent battery life. There are more and more functions available without being tied to a smartphone, although this is still not a full-fledged OS like Samsung or Apple.

If we compare the GTS 2 with analogs of the A-brands, then Huami watches are significantly cheaper than many potential competitors: now they can be purchased at a discount for 15 thousand rubles. This makes the device a more attractive solution for those who need a solid but not very expensive wrist accessory with everything you need from a heart rate monitor to an incoming call function.
