What if you were not hired?

1. First, stop tormenting yourself and blaming yourself for everything. You may be an excellent specialist, but not suitable for subjective reasons. For example, you came, unable to maintain the dress code adopted in the company, showed too bold manicure or defiantly bright sneakers.

Advice: Be as polite as possible. Before going to an interview, study how the employees of the organization dress, where you go to get a job, determine if you need a team player or an individualist. If you don’t want to adapt in principle and intend to demonstrate your independence and indifference to business style, perhaps a place with a strict dress code is simply not for you.

2. It also happens that at the interview, the applicant is very worried, which ultimately smears out the first impression. The ability to present yourself is very valuable. Ideally, you need to show your interest in employment in this particular place, demonstrate your motivation. But the main thing here is not to overdo it: ostentatious self-confidence and relaxedness can alienate the employer.

Advice: practice at home in front of the mirror, give your speech, think over in advance the answers to possible questions of recruiters, including the most popular one: "Why do you want to work with us?"

3. Sometimes job seekers are interested in salary, conditions of rest, the possibility of providing time off, the availability of a social package, but they do not ask much about the responsibilities that they will have to perform, the corporate culture, the rules established in the company. This bias can also be a reason for rejection.

Advice: be sure to take an interest in the life of the company. But if you think that you can get a job at this place only in exchange for a decent set of social benefits and generous bonuses, you better think a hundred times whether you need such a job. To get all this, you have to sweat, and without pleasure.

4. If you were refused, try to find the reason. Reflection is useful: you can understand what exactly you need to change (perhaps gain experience, correct something in appearance, learn to present yourself). This experience is very valuable.

Advice: write down on a piece of paper all the pros and cons of the interview, remember how the recruiter behaved, what you were doing at that moment. Try to look at the process through the eyes of an outside observer and evaluate yourself objectively: would you yourself hire such a person?

5. Too much talk, criticism of the previous management, retelling of the latest gossip about the company from which you recently left - all this will alienate you from getting the desired position.

Advice: do not give out unnecessary information about colleagues and former bosses, even if you are very strongly asked about it. Remember: this is probably a test, because it is possible that you will chat about this company in the same way.
