Let's start with the greenery. Smoothies are perfect for complementing the menu with a portion of fresh herbs without having to prepare another salad. The most neutral base that goes well with any fruit and vegetable is spinach. In vegetable and berry smoothies, you can add a little arugula, which has a slight peppery taste, or aromatic herbs like mint, to spinach. The latter will only need a couple of twigs, but the base greens should be no more than a glass per serving, otherwise you will not leave the feeling that you are drinking puréed herb.

After placing the washed greens in a blender, add a handful of your favorite berries and fruits. Pay attention to another traditional smoothie base - bananas. They make the drink sweeter and creamier. Frozen bananas are especially good, which, after whipping, turn into something like ice cream and chill smoothies.

Add no more than a glass of chopped fresh or frozen fruits and berries to a glass of greens.

Now to liquids. Of course, the entire contents can be whipped with plain water, but try replacing it with coconut water, nut or cow's milk, yogurt or juice. As a rule, about a glass of liquid should be enough to thoroughly beat all the ingredients, but depending on the desired thickness, you can vary the volume.

The source of healthy fats in smoothies can be coconut milk or cream, a small amount of vegetable oil, or a spoonful of any nut butter. The last option seems to us the most delicious.

All kinds of additives are aimed at improving the taste of the drink or increasing its nutritional value, and therefore everything can be used: protein powder, ground spices and various superfoods.

Sweeteners are the last to use. If you find your fruit or berry based drink already sweet, skip this step. Otherwise, a drop of honey, agave syrup, maple syrup, or even a few dates will help turn the smoothie into the perfect sweet tooth breakfast.
