You cannot find your center if you think that you are the center

It's like with the solar system of Ptolemy, in which the center was not the sun, but the earth. Yoga teaches us that we are not the center of the universe around which everything revolves. We are only mediators, carriers of functions that help events happen, develop and evolve. Whether it's your own business or project management - you are not the center, you are another cog in the system that helps it work well.

Try to be flexible

"Flexible thinking" - in vacancies you can often see a similar clause in the requirements for a candidate. You need to understand that people learn and work in different ways and each has their own individual style that matches their level of knowledge, skills, experience and habits.

It is very important to spend some time thinking about how people work, what motivates them, what will be their reaction to this or that event, how they solve problems in their project. This is a very important skill that allows you to put yourself in the shoes of the people you need to work with at the moment and helps you understand them and adapt to their work style.

Always keep your values in mind

Sometimes people who hate tobacco work on advertising projects with tobacco companies. Or they do for a lot of money what previously seemed impossible, stepping over their values and principles. Usually at this moment they reassure themselves that this is not for long, and that then with this money it will be possible to do a lot of good, useful and just pleasant things. Or they work at a job that they hate, but for which they get good money, gradually forgetting that they once dreamed of starting their own project or opening a small coffee shop.

When you choose a job or must make a decision about whether to pursue a career with the company or go your own way, remember what you once thought was important. Analyze how the values and principles of the company differ from yours, and make the right informed choice, otherwise the price you pay will be too high.

Remember to breathe

Breathing techniques of meditation perfectly help to relax in just a few minutes, calm down and put your thoughts in order. This does not take a lot of time, does not need to perform any complex special exercises, and does not need a lot of space. All you need to do is find a quiet secluded place in your office and set aside only 5 minutes to breathe, calm down and make the right decision.

The ideal option is to lie down, put one hand on your chest, the other on your stomach, and begin to breathe deeply, feeling your breath with your hands. The same exercise can be performed while sitting, but always with a straightened spine!

You can also use another technique - Nadi Sadhan (Nadi Shodhan Pranayama). This is the nostril breathing technique, which is the basis for many other techniques, it is quite easy to perform.

Pinch your right nostril with your thumb and inhale deeply through your left. Then pinch the left nostril and exhale through the right. Close the right nostril again and inhale deeply through the left and exhale through the right. And so alternately for several minutes.

This breathing technique balances the right and left hemispheres of the brain, helps to get rid of headaches, migraines and other troubles that usually accompany a stressful state, and also clears our mind of mental debris and helps to focus on work.

Stretch out

Another option to calm down and not ruin the work you've been working on, and perhaps your entire team of colleagues, is to stretch it slightly. In addition to calmness, gentle stretching can help you relax and focus on the work you are doing.

There are several poses that can be performed right in the work chair. For example, position of the cat in the chair:sit on the edge of a chair, put your hands on your knees, stretch your spine, inhale and, as you exhale, bring your shoulders forward, rounding your back, hold in this position for a few seconds, and then while inhaling, straighten up again, lowering your shoulders down. Do this exercise until you feel relief.

Aromatherapy + tea

Another way to calm down is to drink some delicious herbal tea. Choose an herbal blend that calms you down and bring it to work as a substitute for your office coffee. Just don't overdo it, as some soothing teas make you sleepy almost immediately;)

Aromatherapy can also help you fight stress. But here the main thing is not to overdo it, especially if you do not have your own personal account. Before bringing this or that essential oil to the office, ask your colleagues if they are allergic.

The oils of lavender, orange, geranium, ylang-ylang, frankincense, bergamot, mandarin, mint, rose and marjoram are excellent relaxing and stress-relieving oils. You can bring a small potpourri soaked in these oils, or add a few drops to your hand cream. In this case, it is also worth making sure that you are not personally allergic to this oil, as it will get directly on your skin.

Sing! But only quietly;)

Singing is another way of meditation. In this case, singing does not mean writing trendy pop songs, but meditative repetition of a mantra or a short phrase for some time. For example, the well-known Om ”Is the universal voice of the Universe, which means everything and nothing at the same time.

You can also repeat to yourself a short phrase that will calm you down in a particular situation.

Do not worry, do not be nervous, do not drive yourself into depression, but just do your job as best you can. And every time something doesn't work out, remember that someone who doesn't make mistakes isn't trying to do anything new. The worst thing that can happen to you is your own death, the death of a loved one, or a serious illness. Everything else is absolutely not worth it to bring yourself to a nervous breakdown.
