Keep bottles cool

The ideal storage temperature is in the range of 7-18 ° C, in extreme cases no higher than 21 ° C. Too warm air has a negative effect on the wine: the aroma is exhausted, and the flavors are dulled.

You can keep the bottle you are about to open for dinner in the refrigerator. But it is not suitable for long-term storage. The wine in it is supercooled, and the cork can dry out.

It is best to put the bottles in a basement or closet in a cool room. If you have a large collection, consider purchasing a dedicated wine cooler.

Do not expose alcohol to light

The light will spoil the taste of the wine, and it will also harm the beer. Therefore, keep bottles of alcohol in the dark, away from direct sunlight.

If you want to play it safe, use incandescent lamps instead of fluorescent ones in the room where you store your wine.

Store bottles on the side

You've probably noticed that bottles are stored on their sides on wine racks. There is a reason for that: the wine touches the cork, so it doesn't dry out.

When buying wine, find out how long it can be stored. Some wines are allowed to mature for 20 years or more, and their quality will only improve. Others need to be drunk within a couple of years after production, until the taste gets worse. Pay attention to this.
