How to draw a cartoon parrot with colored pencils
Drawing a bright cockatoo is easier than it seems. Try drawing it with colored pencils.
What is needed
- Paper;
- colour pencils;
- simple pencil;
- eraser.
How to draw
With a simple pencil, outline a large oblique oval - this is the body. Draw the head and neck using a trapezoid shape. Show the tail - it looks like an elongated triangle. Don't press hard on the pencil at this point.
Draw an arc for the border of the muzzle. Draw a round eye with a small pupil inside it. Draw a line under the details. Draw a curved beak and a smile.
On the head, show a tuft of two feathers with rounded tips. Circle the neck to make it a little brighter. Sketch the wing - it looks like an elongated and curved blob. Mark three feathers in the middle of the part.
The second wing is not fully visible, and only its upper part needs to be marked. To do this, draw a curved line to the right of the body. Draw feathers on the chest.
Brighten up the tail. Draw two large, rounded feathers at the tip. Place three more ladders under the base of the part.
To outline the perch, draw two horizontal lines. The distance between them is about 0.5 cm. On the left, connect the edges of the segments with a small circle, on the right, with an arc.
Draw two vertical lines down from the middle of the bar. On the horizontal part of the perch, show the bird's claws - three on each leg. They resemble tiny bananas in shape. Mark the paws themselves with short, curved strokes.
Darken the pupil, leaving some empty space for the highlight. Paint over the crest, neck and upper parts of the wings with a red pencil.
Make the lower part of the wing, top of the tail, legs and belly green.
Use a blue pencil for the tip of the tail, and a yellow pencil for the beak and claws. The perch in the example is brown.

How to draw a cartoon parrot with a marker
If you are not sure that you can draw a bird right away with a marker, do not be discouraged. Errors can be easily corrected by drawing a pattern over them.
What is needed
- Paper;
- black marker.
How to draw
Draw a beak. It is a horizontal triangle with a curved tip and a rounded base. Show your eye. To do this, draw an oval to the right of the beak. Make a thick oblique stroke inside it.
Mark the head with an arc with a break at the tip on the right. Draw a small triangle under the beak. This is the bottom of the part.
Step back a few millimeters from the tip of the large part of the beak. Draw a broken line down, and then round it. You will get a chest and tummy.
To mark the wing on the left, repeat the line you made in the previous step. Sharpen its tip by drawing a shape that looks like a triangle.
Draw the wing on the right. To do this, make a wide, inverted V under the neck. Extend its ends with lines. Connect them by sketching the feathers.
Draw some large, wavy lines across the large wing. Use smaller items on the chest. Draw two lines from the eye. Straight and short - to the beak, curved and long - to the neck.
Draw the tail. It consists of several shapes that resemble rectangles. Feet are rounded upside down M.
Add short, wavy lines on the left wing. Circle the outline of the picture. Show a tiny oval on the nose.

How to draw a cartoon parrot with a marker and pastels
The image with a large and bright bird attracts attention. Show this instruction to your child if they were asked to draw a parrot at school.
What is needed
- Paper;
- black marker;
- oil pastels;
- napkin.
How to draw
Draw a beak. It is a large horizontal triangle with a downward curved tip and a convex base.
Draw two lines down from the base of the beak. Use them to mark an oblong head and a large, rounded body.
Draw a tail with a rounded tip. Make a wide checkmark at its base. Draw a straight line from its tip downward.
Draw a large vertical arc on the body. To the right of it, above and below, add two segments - you get wings folded on the back.
Draw a round eye. Inside is a small pupil. If you want to make the head of the parrot bright, mark the segments of the detail with arcs and strokes. In the example, the space near the eyes, the upper and lower parts of the back of the head are highlighted.
Divide the beak in two. At the top, draw a line with curled ends. Draw a perch. These are two rectangles with rounded corners on opposite sides of the bird. Mark the foot on the left. These are two tiny arcs connected to each other.
Trace the outline of the drawing. If desired, a flower can be schematically indicated on the side.
Paint over the wings and tail with green pastels. Add an orange hue. In the example, it is used for the crown, the inside of the beak, and the space above the tail.
For different segments of the head and beak, use red, blue, yellow colors.
Make the flower petals purple, the middle yellow, the leaves green. The perch in the example is dark yellow. Shade the foot with brown pastel.
Blend the pastels with a napkin to distribute the paint evenly. Try not to go beyond the boundaries outlined with a marker. Otherwise, you will mix different colors and the drawing will appear messy.

How to draw a realistic parrot with paints
From the outside it seems that only an artist can draw such a parrot. This is not true. Grab your brushes to try. You can do it.
What is needed
- Canvas or plain paper;
- acrylic paints or gouache;
- thin and medium brushes;
- palette knife;
- water;
- palette.
How to draw
With a thin brush, outline a large oval - this is the body of a parrot. Above the detail, make a circle tilted slightly to the right. You will get a sketch of the head.
Use a small triangle to mark the wing under the oval on the right. Sketch out the long tail of the bird. Draw a branch with a horizontal curved line.
Take a medium sized brush. Scoop up some red paint and paint over the neck and head, leaving some room for the beak. Show the direction of growth of the feathers with strokes: they stretch from the right side to the left. Draw a crest.
Add some yellow to the red to create a bright orange. Make strokes on the crest, chest, tail. One stroke can be sketched on the back.
Do not rinse the brush in water. Scoop up some yellow paint for her and draw a belly. Add some shade to the side, shoulder and head. Long strokes will be on the tail.
Rinse your brush well. Mix bright green with yellow. Make some strokes on the side and wing.
Draw a blue stripe under the wing. Draw a few lines on the tail. Use a blue shade for the space under the abdomen.
Draw in gray the branch on which the parrot is sitting. Draw an open beak with a thin brush. It consists of two curved triangles. Outline the part with black paint. Show the oval nostril and make two white highlights.
Draw a round blue eye. Inside there is a black pupil and a white highlight. Draw the muzzle with white too. If the strokes crawl out of the outline, the paint will mix, and you will get a smooth transition to bright feathers. Add red strokes to the cheek.
Apply dark green on the wing, blue and cyan on the tail and chest. Mix yellow paint with white paint. Make thick strokes on the wing, chest and head. If desired, strokes can be drawn behind the outline of the drawing.
Draw some more red feathers on the chest and belly - this will make the bird's body a little more massive. Mix the color with black. Draw shadows under the head and tail and above the beak.
Take brown. Use strokes to show the six claws with which the parrot is holding on to the branch. Add some more blue lines to the drawing if you like. Mark the border of the wing with a black stripe.
Mix black and white. With a palette knife, distribute the resulting shade over the background. Imagine that you are spreading butter on bread and making chaotic movements. Add blue strokes on top.
Draw red and green lines behind the outline of the drawing with a thin brush. Dilute the blue paint with water so that it resembles kefir in consistency. Shake the brush over the image for a splatter. Make red and green blobs in the same way.

How to draw a realistic parrot using a pencil
The drawing of a parrot gray looks perfect if done with a simple pencil.
What is needed
- Paper;
- simple pencil;
- eraser.
How to draw
Draw a large circle. Draw an arc to its bottom. This is the body of a future parrot.
Draw a small circle to indicate the head. Inside it, draw horizontal and vertical lines that intersect in the center at right angles. Add a small arc to the right of the shape. You will get an egg-like shape.
Connect the head and body with curved lines to show the neck. At the bottom of the body, make an inverted C - later this will be the foot. Sketch the tail: draw two segments, the ends of which connect from below.
The parrot's eye is a circle with pointed sides. Inside the form there is a dark pupil and a white highlight. Make intermittent arcs over the part.
Draw the beak. It consists of two curved triangles with jagged bases. The upper part is more massive than the lower one. There is a tiny oval nostril above it.
Trace the outlines of the head and back of the head. Add a short, wavy line under the beak. Draw a broken arc near the eye.
Show the wing - it's an oval-like shape. Mark rounded feathers on the side and bottom. To do this, make several narrow, inverted arcs.
Draw a long, inverted triangle to extend the wing. On top of the sketch, sketch out a few layers of feathers.
Draw another arc to the sketch of the paw. You will get a shape that looks like a thin crescent - this is a claw. The second claw is almost invisible - draw only its upper part and a sharp tip. Connect the foot to the body with two strokes.
Trace the outline of the parrot's back and abdomen. You don't need to make them perfectly even. Show the claws on the second paw. To do this, just duplicate the first part on the right. Draw an arc - this will be the edge of the second wing, which is hidden behind the bird's body.
At the tip of the tail, depict feathers with blunt tips, inside - with rounded ones. Draw a circle under the claws. Draw lines from its top and bottom points. You get the perch on which the parrot sits.
Use the eraser to erase the construction lines inside the outline of the drawing.
Shade the beak firmly. Press down hard on the pencil to create a rich color. Empty stripes should be left only at the outer contour of the part. Cover the forehead and the back of the head with short vertical lines, and the cheek and neck with arched horizontal lines.
Decorate the chest with bright lines. For the belly, a light shade is suitable. Draw a shadow under the beak.
Brighten up the middle of the belly a little. Shade the wings. Note that the detail on the left is light at the base and dark at the tip. Add some more rows of feathers.
Paint over the claws and tail. Try to highlight the borders of individual feathers. Make the perch light.

How to draw a realistic parrot with colored pencils
If it is not possible to draw a budgerigar from nature, do it according to the instructions.
What is needed
- Paper;
- simple pencil;
- eraser;
- colour pencils.
How to draw
Draw a large circle to indicate the chest. Mark a smaller shape for the head a little higher. Draw two curved lines inside it: vertical and horizontal.
Draw lines for the neck. Draw an elongated arc at the bottom of the large circle.
Draw two small arcs to show the paws. Draw an elongated inverted triangle under the body - this will be the tail.
Draw a round eye with pointed sides. Make a series of strokes around the part. Inside - an iris and a glare.
A parrot's beak is like a tooth. Note that the base of the part is divided into two parts by a line. At the top is a round nostril.
Draw two broken and curved lines from the beak to the back of the head and shoulder. Show the chin with strokes.
Draw a few more curved lines on the sides of the paw arcs. This will draw the claws. Sketch a perch under the details.
Show the wing on the left. It looks like half an elongated drop. Make the contour of the tail uneven. Mark some feathers inside. Erase all construction lines with an eraser.
With black pencil, paint over the pupil and nostril, yellow - the beak. Use pink for the paws. The perch will be brown. Note that the detail is darker at the bottom than at the top.
With a black pencil, outline the elements of the color. There will be thin curved strokes to the left of the eye, thick ones on the wing. Draw specks near the beak. Add blue for the small details, and then shade the tummy.
The tips of the tail feathers are also black, the rest of the space is blue.
Continue shading the abdomen and shoulder until they are bright. The shadow above the wand will be purple. Go over the wing and muzzle with a gray pencil. Add yellow color to the parrot's forehead.
