This step-by-step guide will help you make a path in a suburban area without the help of specialists.
What do you need
- Formwork boards.
- Wooden stakes.
- Sand.
- Gravel.
- Paving stones.
- Roulette.
- Hammer.
- Rope.
- Shovel.
- Level.
Instructions
Step 1. Measure the track
Drive in wooden stakes every 1.5 meters along the entire length of the future path and connect with a rope. Consider space for planks and curbs.
Step 2. Dig a trench
The depth of the trench should be such that the gravel and sand will fit in it. Using a spirit level, level the entire length of the trench.
Step 3. Make a slope
The walkway should slope slightly to one side so that rainwater does not accumulate. If the path is next to the house, tilt in the opposite direction from it. To do this, use a level.
Step 4. Nail the boards to the stakes
The height of the boards can be adjusted using stakes.
Step 5. Pour out the gravel
Use a vibrating plate or hand rammer to compact gravel.
Step 6. Spread the sand
Level the surface with a board.
Step 7. Lay out the paving stones
Place the cobblestones firmly on the sand base.
Step 8. Fill in the gaps with sand
Fine-grained sand is suitable for this.
Step 9. Make planting holes
Remove a few tiles along the walkway. Plant there plants for the alpine slide. They will complement the picture beautifully.
Step 10. Add decorative gravel
Spread it in between the paving stones. Your track is ready!
