1. Black steed

For his directorial debut, Carroll Ballard chose Walter Farley's novel of the same name. In those days, such a rich plot (shooting on location on the island, horse racing) was difficult to transfer to the screen. Nevertheless, the film crew coped with their task, and even the author of the book eventually admitted to The Author / theblackstallion that the adaptation was a success.
