Why do people doubt their own capabilities

I recently spoke with one of the students in my productivity course about finding a job. It turned out to be very difficult for her. Like you, she reads articles about self-development and spends a lot of time on her education. After talking with her, I realized that she would become a valuable employee for any company. However, she does not share my conviction: "What if everyone else is using the same strategies to find a job?"

Many of those who are engaged in their education ask the same question. It seems that literally every person on Earth is also engaged in self-development, and this reduces the chances of getting a good job. Believe me, this is not at all the case.

The percentage of people who invest in their education after graduation is extremely small.

I know this from my own experience. It's just that when you are constantly developing, it is difficult to believe that others are not doing the same. After all, in the end, self-development really does bear fruit. Naturally, you think everyone is busy with it.

So if you're worried about competitors in your industry, take it easy. Even if you are surrounded by people who study a lot online or offline, you and they are still a minority. Most people prefer entertainment and idleness. This has always been the case and I don't think it will change in the near future.

How to effectively continue self-education

Relax and learn further

Take it easy. Relax your muscles, stop frowning. And believe in yourself. Every minute you invest in yourself will pay off. Maybe tomorrow, maybe ten years from now.

This is the essence of self-development. It is not known when you will need the acquired skills. But the moment will surely come when everything you have learned will come in handy. And, looking back, you will see that everything fell into place.

You cannot tie all the facts into a single whole, looking ahead. This can only be done by looking back. We have to believe that in the future they will form a coherent picture.

And you also need to trust yourself. And realize that every minute that you spend on your education and development, you are ahead of those who do not. Of course, life is not a race. But this idea can be used as a motivation to work on yourself. Most importantly, stop underestimating yourself.

Many people say that knowing and doing are not the same thing, and theory is not as important as practice. I think this idea is overrated. Both theory and practice are equally important. You cannot choose just one thing: they are closely interconnected.

For example, you can first read about something and then do it. Or, conversely, do it first and then study it in order to better understand it. Consistency is not important here.

Let go of the conventional view of learning

Take a look at your skills. Most importantly, focus on how you can help other people or companies.

Stop worrying about what others are doing. Fear simply speaks in you:

  • Fear of failure.
  • Fear of rejection.
  • Fear of loss.
  • Fear of having to start all over again.

So what? If you develop and get better, you will cope with everything that can happen in life.

Don't dream about life being different. Accept your situation. Understand that there is a reason for your existence. All you have to do now is to turn what you want into reality.
